PoE - offline game possible in the far future?

I would literally pay $80 for an offline POE. GGG would never do it though, because it would mean they wouldn't have control over the "economy".

While I can't see it happening anytime soon, I would be very interested in seeing what the community could make of POE modding-wise. Something as big as Median XL for POE could be incredible.

That's not the reason at all.
Economy has nothing to do with it.

Having an offline version means players would have access to what is currently server side only code, which would open the floodgates for all kinds of hax/cheats.

Why is it anyone's business what someone does in a single player offline game, should such a version be released?

I'll be straight up, I'd like to have a single player offline version, just to test some things to their absolute limits without sacrificing the time due to trial and error.

1000% agree.

I would love to buy an offline version of Path of Exile (like Diablo 2 and Torchlight 2), and I can even buy more copies with my housemates if there is an offline multiplayer via LAN.

Path of Exile is the greatest a-rpg game after Diablo 2 in my opinion, but I am an old-fashioned man and never like Free to Play games because of average quality player base (you can see that even in this topic).

Offline LAN parties are great. We are still playing Diablo 2 every weekend with my housemates and close friends, they take their laptops and we talk about the rules, then play! For example, our latest game was "everyone is sorceress, but choose only one element".. etc. It is just for fun, and we do not need to be online at all.

Of course, you do not want to think about, but some day Path of Exile's servers will be down permanently which is normal. On the other hand; we can keep and play this great game forever if GGG releases an offline version of Path of Exile with LAN feature on the Steam store.

* The community will not split, because it is an offline game.
* The game is already ready, only needs some drop rate tweaks because of no global trading.
* The game's price will be $20-60, so GGG can get an extra financial support from players on the Steam store.
* Mod support! GGG can add Steam workshop feature.


P.S: If you do not want to buy it, just stick with the current online-only one. You do not need to judge people in here because of that they do not think like you.

Wrong there, they don't care about the economy enough to deny a mode of play, they don't do offline because of pirates/hackers/botters/private servers/ and a significant amount of time required to recode stuff so it couldn't be used on the online version.
Doing so would directly effect their income, not something they are going to do at this stage.

At the end of the games life though it might.

Having cheated my way through diablo and torchlight and the other one. One of the main reasons that I did not buy D3 was because it was on-line only and you could not cheat.

As POE was free and a AAA experience I thought I would give it a go. Now I have actually played it without cheating and really enjoyed the experience, I would hate the idea of an offline mode. The temptation to cheat would be too great.

I do not really interact with people while playing (sorry!) and am mostly self found.

Why even care about this game if you talking about far far future? In the far far future will be a lot of games to play, with better graphics and gameplay. You will be bored in PoE 100 times till far far future
