There is no such thing as "can't be changed". Also, it's not like they didn't add skills before, so... if it need to be reworked from scratch - go ahead, work on it. it's really not that bad to use some time to fix the skill that obviously malfunctioning. Also, there is no way that changing profane bloom burst into 0.5-1 sec aoe dot will be that hard, necromancer's beacon of corruption, for example. It can be fixed just by copy-pasting of code.

Even if not - atleast change ascendancy tree can't even considered to be hard, so occultist will not end up with 2 relevant nodes, instead of 4. But GGG just doesn't care. It's like spit in the face of entire community.

Basically, they are saying: "We made occultist so you can build chaos-centered character... and we know that ascendancy that was supposed to be absolutely amazing throw your most obvious skill into dumpster. But we won't change it, cause it's kinda because our game engine sucks and that issue is part of it's mechanic, and cause we are lazy, we'll just leave it as it is. You can call it feature, instead of bug".

Don't try to justify that behavior. All their "can't be changed" just a lazy excuses.

The thing about programming, if you didn't knew before, so that i don't need to know a code of POE. If some node have effect, whatever code it is, you can make another node with the same effect by copying previous in couple of clicks. That's exactly why it's called "Object-oriented programming". When "object" is created, you can reuse it in other fields with ease. Have a nice day too, sir.

And it's not about how much i know the code, you just assume that all that GGG telling is true. That's can be not the case. And if people will continue to nagging them - we have chance on some changes. If not - well, that's how polititians become greedy and corrupted. Cause if nobody cares, they also will not care.

P.S. Still the same issue - if it's a problem to change skill - ok, but it's not a problem to change tree. Post of Rhys pretty much perfectly show us, that they know that this interaction is highly undesirable by community, and the only thing that stopping them from changing it - problems with core mechanic. Ok. Atleast move that highly undesirable ascendancy node to the place that will not force us to use it. So simple.

And don't tell me that changing the tree is really hard, you will look like retard. And GGG do it pretty much every big patch anyway, why not change that too?

Get it through your head. No matter how much you want it to be and no matter what flawed logic you come up with, there is NO bug. It has been said as much by a Dev.

Period, do not pass go, end of story. If you want something changed, go the the feedback forum and stop spamming the bug report forum. This is not the place for your idle ramblings.

Just poppin in for some tips on the your characters, not participating in change suggestions just seeing what we can do in the status quo

A good way to reduce the chance of 'profane bloom screwing' you is by maybe investing in Pierce or somehow getting an additional projectile. If even you have 50% pierce chance, theres a 50% chance that you will hit at least two monsters with your essence drain and you will require both mobs exploding in order to 'get screwed by profane bloom'. The chance to originall get screwed is 20%, but with 50% pierce, it becomes 20%*(50%*20% +50%*20%*20%) = 12%.

(calculations is expectation of not piercing 50% of the time and on case it pierces both mob need to explode to be screwed)

For the case where you can hit ONLY two monsters. Of course the chance is slightly smaller when you can hit 3 or more but relying on piercing multiple times with only 50% is not that great. If you get 100% pierce then the you can see in the calculation it swiftly becomes very small chance to be screwed, at a mere 4% chance with 100% pierce, and hitting 2 monsters only. If you hit 3 monsters, all three need to explode to screw you, so it becomes 20% of 4% (or 20% of 20% of 20%) = 0.8% chance.

Obviously multiple projectiles work in similar fashion that more mobs get afflicted with ED so less chance all of them blow up and you get screwed. As you can see the more mobs you hit, the chance of being screwed by profane bloom drastically decreases (its at down from 20% to 0.8% with 3 hits!)

I'm guessing most players are already using pierce though. I don't see how it is possible to stand playing this skill gem combo when you encounter things like allies cannot die stuff otherwise. Anyways I would recommend investing maybe even in pierce cluster to minimize the chance of this stuff (more wasteful for ES based characters though)
