Same ! Whenever I log in I get 100% cpu usage and 1-10 fps and can't play. Even in my hideout or town its 1-10 fps where as I would always have 60-100 fps constant even in huge fights. I have nvidia gtx 970, and i7 2550k intel processor and 16gb ram if that matters. This should not be a problem Imo.

Things I've tried: Uninstalling (Worked first time, problem came back 1 day later so i re-installed again and problem stayed.)

- Compatability mode
- Different resolution / Textures
- No audio
- Reinstalling all drivers
- Windowed/fullscreen mode

If there is anything else I can try I would appreciate the help as well, thanks.
Me too even to the point of 0 fps and the program is "not responding" and I have to force shut down and restart the program a few times before it loads properly.
After the latest minor patch usage of CPU raised up to 100% but I can play normally. No huge drops as others said before.
I am experiencing the same, this is an insane problem and needs to be addressed immediately.
Same here. It makes the game unplayable and should be fixed as fast as possible. You could have the best content possible, but if the game is unplayable, people will leave it.
This is a serious issues that seems to be ignored. GGG you're fucking up people's computers, do you want to reimburse thousands of people?
I add myself to the list of people that are experiencing above issue.

Unfortunately today I realized I have to give up playing PoE until the problem is fixed.
Although my Windows PC has some years, I had an acceptable gaming experience before patch 2.3.
After the release of 2.3 however, FPS dropped to very low values (today I hit 1 fps while casting srs... please note that the same character reached level 70 in past leagues though)

Using predictive or lockstep mode makes very little difference (and in lockstep mode the latency is always higher than 100 ms, even if the server shows 25ms in the login screen).
After finding this thread, I verified that my CPU is always stuck at 100% while PoE is running.
And I am sure this is the reason why the gaming experience is no longer acceptable (fps below 10 upon each mob encounter, constant risk of death even for level 90 characters in low tier maps, ...).
I also tried running the game with --nosound option, but the problem persisted.

I appreciate very much what GGG does, I am sure they are already working on the issue and I trust they will be able to fix it soon (it will be hard not playing PoE until that :-)
I just hope that all these contributions draw the developers' attention and speed up a solution ;-)
Wow! The --noasync fixed the 100% CPU problem for me!

I tried it after reading today Chris' post, and now the frame rate has acceptable values.

Sure, there are still some problems (e.g. my srs character is a cast&run char, and the 'run' part does not respond immediately after the 'cast' past; I also tried a map with ground effect and it caused the game to stutter a little more), but the game now is behaving quite decently.

I hope that future patches will further improve the performances, in the meantime thank you GGG!
The last update solved the problem with high usage of CPU. Thank you, GGG.
