G-Sync low fps, nVidia GeForce Experience crash PoE

Hi, I have some wierd issues from a couple of days. When I start up my pc and start PoE my fps stucks at 20ish fps. I have G-Sync ON for fullscreen and windowed mode. PoE runs in "fullscreen windowed" cause i have 2 monitors and i use second screen a lot.

So, when PoE stuck at 20fps, if i put PoE in fullscreen mode my fps goes up to 144Hz stable.
If I put in g-sync pannel "g-sync only for fullscreen mode" and i still run PoE in fullscreen windowed mode my fps stay at 144Hz (is g-sync working with this configuration?).

The weirdest thing is that if i run PoE (when it runs at: 20fps, 144fps, fullscreen or windowed fullscreen do not matter) and i try to right click my "nVidia GeForce Experience" icon near the clock PoE will just crash. (I tryed to right click that cause it's where i can change g-sync mode)

So what's going on? Had no problem until few days ago.
I tried to uninstall GeForce Experience and reinstall it, tryed to make a clean installation of the latest nVidia drivers but notthing changed.

PC specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670k 3.40 GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Z87-A
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU: Gigabyte G1 nVidia GeForce GTX 970
OS: Windows 10
Main monitor: Acer XB240H

Yes, I've seen this before. You're running with G-Sync, and will affect other framerate sync modes like V-Sync and Adaptive V-Sync.

The problem is the multiple monitors as you've mentioned. Your options...

1.) Ditch G-Sync and use your own frame-limiting method (ie: 3rd party app). Not ideal, since G-Sync is a good technology to use, but will get you around this issue.

2.) Make sure both of your monitors are G-Sync capable, with the same resolutions/refresh rates, connected to G-Sync capable video cards. The same make/model monitors should work just fine with keeping your vertical sync at the right value. If you have the same two monitors right now, then this is a different issue. This is obviously the more expensive option.

3.) Or, finally, try to isolate the conditions for this and try a happy compromise. This involves playing around with your V-Sync/Adaptive/G-Sync options, both in NVIDIA software and with the game's graphics settings, as well as making sure you don't use window mode, only full-screen mode. You can also make sure your default display adapter is correct for your specific monitor (if you run multiple cards or have integrated graphics as well). You may add command-line options to your PoE launcher's executable to force it to go to the desired graphics card.

Ultimately, if you use any sort of sync, and then switch to a window mode (windowed or fullscreen windowed), you're going to have this problem. If you play in window mode a lot, consider option 1. If you bounce back and forth, consider option 2. And option 3 is just there to experiment with, because everyone's setup is a little different.

Well first of all thanks for the answare!! Very usefull!

Well my second monitor is not g-sync and it's not even 144Hz. So that's may be the problem..

I only have 1 GTX 970 and crappy monitor is connected throught DVI cable and g-sync 144Hz one is using display port as I should.

So the question is, is g-sync a passive thing that games have not to be made for g-sync compatibilty or is that PoE dos not run "bug free" in g-sync?

No problem, happy to help. :-)

G-Sync is an NVIDIA-specific technology. It needs a compatible card and compatible monitor. Monitors with G-Sync cost just a little more (10s of dollars, so not a huge amount) because they have additional hardware by NVIDIA in them. It's a cool, although proprietary technology. It's completely independent of the game you play, since G-sync works at the driver level.

So it's up to you how you want to get around this issue, whether it's a compromise, buying new hardware, or just living with slow down while in window mode. Hopefully, though, your G-sync works well in fullscreen mode regardless of whatever the other monitor has on it or is doing. That's where it's truly supposed to work well: fullscreen.

I run two displays as well, on both my work and home PC, both with NVIDIA GPUs. I do notice a little slowdown with doing window mode (ie: using poe.trade on one monitor, PoE on another), but I'm using NVIDIA Adaptive V-Sync. Same with regular in-game V-Sync too. Though it's not nearly as bad as what you or others describe. But perhaps that's because both of my monitors are 60Hz max.

So there's one useful thing to try: set both displays to 60Hz and see if that helps? I know it helped another user who ran 144Hz on one monitor as well, even if it's a compromise.

Ok, I will try to make my 144Hz monitor run at 60Hz so both will be at the same refresh rate.

By the way today, when i turned on my pc, i checked my g-sync options and I found them set
to "g-sync in fullscreen and windowed mode" but when I started up PoE instead of running at 20Hz it was wunning at 144Hz. Yet it crashed when i tryed to right click my nVidia control pannel icon near the clock. So that's still weird...
There has been a couple reports of problems with PoE and the 3d vision software that comes installed with the gerforce driver package these days. It's not enough to say it's widespread or a trend yet, but a couple people I've talked to have had success with either removing or disabling the 3dvision service.

It's sort of a shot based on a very small sample size, but I figured you might be interested in giving it a shot.

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?

Gonna make a clean drivers installation without that then! Thanks a ton!

EDIT: Performed a clean uninstallation of nVidia drivers adn nVidia softwares using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), downloaded latest nVidia driver and installed ONLY drivers so no 3d vision thing..

PoE run at 144Hz with g-sync on for windowed mode and fullscreen. But still crash if I right-click the nVidia control pannel on my task bar.

If the game runs always at 144Hz i don't mind tho, there's no point for me to touch that pannel if I'm ingame and evrything is running as it should so i'm happy for now! Hope GGG will watch on this maybe they will find somethings and fix it (if it's GGG "fault" i don't know).

Thanks for the replies guys!

No problem. So did it work ok when everything is set to 60Hz or not?

At 60Hz still crash and g-sync seems not working cause i see tearing and stuff....so I just hope that the problem dosn't happen again since it seems that PoE now start at 144Hz (game still crash when i try to open nVidia control pannel)
Hey,

has anyone found a solution to this problem?

I'm having similar issues since activating gsync on windowed and fullscreen.

When PoE is running and window is activated Im running around 20ish fps... 22-23.

Once it moves to the background though it gets to run at about 100ish fps.

I'm running on a Laptop with the following specs:
• 39,6 cm (15.6") Full-HD (1920*1080) Non-Glare IPS (G-SYNC capable)
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 6144MB GDDR5
• Intel Core i7-6700HQ | 4 Cores | 8 Threads | 2,60 - 3,50GHz | 6MB 45W
• 8GB (1x8192) SO-DIMM DDR4 RAM 2133MHz HyperX Impact
• 256GB m.2 SSD Samsung 950 Pro NVMe (MZ-V5P256BW) - via PCI-Express x4

The Monitor I'm using:
• Acer XB270HU (1440p, 144hz, Non-Glare IPS, G-SYNC)

connected via a Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable.

Can deliver Screenshots if needed.

Thanks in advance for any help!
