Season One, Race Event 21: One Week Party
I posted my concerns about the week race like over a week ago and without even seeing the rewards first, and people just kind of blew it off and nobody seemed to agree with my stance. They all made up excuses to justify the week race will be worth doing.
Now everyone is in here crying about the week race is not worth doing and I guess I get to just sit back and enjoy the drama as it unfolds. Последняя редакция: noremac13#5704. Время: 2 мар. 2013 г., 17:29:11

" You my friend are awesome! I chose to quote you because we are like minded and it was much easier than quoting all of these whining little girls posts. Then proceeding to call them out for being the pretentious douche bags with god complexes that they are. Who do nothing but bitch when they don't have an edge or feel like I can't win because of blah blah blah, wah wah wah. So what if It's a grind fest for the no-lifer. Maybe he/she can't win a one or two hour race because they game at a slower pace. Well now all they have to do stay alive and out grind the other no-lifers. Who cares about the damn rewards, its a god damn game. A fucking race. The only prize even worth a damn is knowing how you stack up against the rest. All you spoon fed self entitled thumb suckers can flip your monopoly boards and do whatever else you want with your time. That incentive enough for me to participate in this race. DIAF... Thanks GGG, some of us do appreciate what you for the community. Последняя редакция: Aphobia#4823. Время: 2 мар. 2013 г., 18:53:41

Stoked for the race! For all the people who are worried about the rewards, simply don't worry about it! Racing purely for the competition is much more fulfilling and gratifying anyway. Quick question, was this race originally a party race? I could have sworn it was originally solo..

" Sorry but fake achievements don't mean anything to me. "Knowing how I stack up" doesn't matter. Why should I spend 80+ hours playing, just to find out that the guy that played 120 hours beat me. Of course he beat me, he played 33% more time. That doesn't show me how I stack up, that shows me that spending more time yields better results which makes sense. I don't play games for fun... I play them to achieve something, or else I am just wasting time. The "fun" I have playing games is competing and winning as well as earning achievements. Just sitting down and playing a game for a few hours and not accomplishing anything isn't fun to me. I also like to be very efficient with my time, and because of that this race is just a no-brainer to stay away from. Not only will I have to invest more time but I will also get less reward for spending more time. It just doesn't make sense. Also people are saying that the rewards couldn't be good for the week race or else people would feel the need to participate. That is just a bunch of crap. It has the same effect the other way around... because the week race rewards are so bad I feel the need to compete in the 13 small events happening in the same time-frame. Yet nobody seems to bring that point up. I just don't feel like playing 80+ hours in the week race just to wind up in the top 50 and only get 10 points, when I can play all 13 small races which is a combined 30 hours of play time... and I don't even have to win a single one. In fact I can just reach the lowest level reward and stop, because 1 point per race is still 13 which is 3 more than I would get in a week race for about 33% of the time spent playing. |

I think you really should also get points for reaching level 60+ and staying alive, like it is in the short races. It rewards players that put effort in long races (and not only those Hardcore Gamers that have no jobs and are playing 24/7) and especially those who dont enjoy short races that much.
I was looking forward to compete in the one week race, because for me, it is way more fun than doing the short races (which dont like, because they are just boring as hell, as long as they are not Turbo or cut throat or smthg what makes them spicy). But now my motivation is almost gone... Well, at least there will be some turbo races in 2 weeks... |

" You Don't play for fun or for fake achievements. Yet you state your version of "fun" is playing to achieve something. This fun that you're not having by resorting you your version of "fun", is to compete in a video game for what I like to call "achievements". They are not real, its a Video game which is fictional. Look up the definition of fiction this is still stumping you. |

I'm going to participate but I feel like this race will be a waste of time. I have to get to 200th place to get more than 2 points which is basically nothing. I'm not really sure what the chances of placing that high are but it doesn't feel very likely. If the normal races are continuing all week then realistically I'm going to be losing ladder points. So this will just be for fun unless the pool of players shrinks drastically and I end up winning like 10 points, but even then its debatable.

Has anyone considered that if they make the race points really good for the 1 week race then everyone will feel like they HAVE to play in the one week race?
Mind you I'm also kind of sad that the points are THIS bad for the average Joe, but you guys shouldn't be toooo hard on GGG they are just getting started and balance takes time. Just give them a chance, they have done a great job fixing things in the past and just have a little faith ^_^ Looking for more guild members for races/4 month hc leagues, pm for info

" If I didn't make it clear... an achievement to me is earning 'x' number of race points and being a high rank on the overall race ladder. For example the top 20 on the overall race ladder have earned the kind of achievements I care about. Doing a race "just to see if you can" and "to see how you stack up" are a waste of time in my opinion. If you aren't doing it seriously and aren't doing it to compete than why do it at all. The same goes for competing in events I know I can't do well in because I don't invest the time others do. I don't know if you played in closed beta but the winners of the week races had invested 120+ hours, which comes out to 17 hours a day. I know that if I don't put in that time I won't achieve anything in that race so I just don't compete. It is a shame it has to be that way too, because I enjoy week races much more than short races. Short races are plagued with "RNG winners" who just win based on some insane item they got rather than their actual skill at playing the game. In a week race the RNG is evened out and it becomes a much more fair competition, but still boils down to the time you invest. Also, the week races are mostly party races. Since I don't have a reliable group of people that I play with like the groups that usually win those events, it is yet another deterrent to keep me from participating. For me it is all about time efficiency and what I can gain from doing something. If I can gain something decent for low time invested than that is perfect. In my opinion the week race is neither time-efficient nor well rewarding, and for that reason I am forced to participate in the 13 smaller events that I enjoy doing less. |
