Yes, saver. But they are also much more efficient killing monsters. That is why we got Multistrike and Melee Splash which is absolutely a step in the right direction.

On top of that armor doesn't work and melee has to infest heavily in defensive stats inevitably giving up offensive ones and that is why for example see changes like less monster damage, more life/evasion in Ranger tree, improved life nodes in Templar/Marauder tree, overall improvement of melee damage nodes etc. which are also fine.

When you, as a life/armor base melee character, need to get all life nodes possible, if possible get a lot of shield block, ignore armor nodes, use granites, endurance charges and curses to be able to survive, then armor is clearly not working.

You might want to read the rest of the post you just quoted and you find some arguments (have you ever heard of arguments?)

Also go and read the beta manifesto, because GGG confirms this obviously (do you ever examine patches?).

You are still inside your RT/life Marauder with Granites, Endurance, Enfeeble bubble. (Yes that works, I know)

(1) you ignore armor nodes because you want to ... YOUR CHOICE
(2) Having said that, you do not need investment in armor nodes to get a good quantity of it ... on to point 3.
(3) you dont use determination, grace / IR and value armor on gear because again ... YOUR OWN DARN CHOICE
(4) saying something like 'armor doesnt work' is mindblowingly retarded ... of course it works, it reduces physical damage. And it gets very good the more you have. People can FACE TANK vaal and kole that hit for a VAGILLION physical damage, what does that tell you?!?!?!?
(5) Granites, endurance charges and enfeeble are used by EVERYONE who is half decent. If you are too lazy to use the skills the game GIVES you, and PRESS a button, its YOUR OWN fault. You should go back to your hammerdin in diablo 2. This is PATH OF EXILE. It is meant to be a hard game at endgame. It is meant to make you think and choose carefully and be a bit tactical. If there werent hard hitting enemies, there would be no challenge. Get it through that thick skull of yours once and for all. You just seem to want enemies like kole, rhoas, chargers etc to do ZERO damage to you. And if thats what you want, there is something called IMMORTAL CALL which is really easy to pull off but equally lame ... because its too OP, its free godmode vs physical dmg.
(6) These complaints are thus unfounded, you have a l2p issue and you should get to work on fixing it.
(7) If you tell me 'but I am doing all you listed', you are either lying or doing something wrong, sorry.

All GGG said was they want to improve melee, specifically the way their dps might scale in mp games, thats it, not that the games defenses and armor are broken.

1) Players ignore those nodes because they are useless compared to life nodes

2) Does not matter you will never have enough armor without extreme buffs like Granites and Endurance Charges

4) You are quoting out of context, I also added arguments. Everybody knows that you cannot tank them without an extreme life pool and damage reduction buffs. Insane armor gear by itself is never enough.

And how can you tell me armor sucks? I gave you mathematical proof, even video proof, and other players' quotes, of how investing in armor is top dog at endgame and can let you tank even the hardest of bosses. Yet all you do is keep repeating 'armor doesnt work', 'armor is bad and thats why no one uses it' without anything to back it up. Your attitude stinks.

Nowhere do I see them stating that armour ''doesnt work'' or that the game's defenses are terribad or ''unbalanced'' and in a tragic state, as you say. Or that melee cant survive at all. Simply put, they will add more incentives to use armour, es and evasion for those ppl that dont (I dont see the second sentence being specifically directed towards melee classes only IN ANY WAY) and will give melee a small survivability boost, because they are obviously always going to get hit more than a ranger or a caster.

Not sure what everyone is arguing about. Everyone knows that melee can be very viable at end game. The issue is that ranged have a much easier time comparitively. Thats all.

Edit: My bringer of rain melee basically ignores armor in favor of endurance charges, block, life/life regen and does very well.
