Golem Skill support gem idea (opens new window for melee gems!) EDIT: Now with added ideas!
" Well I wouldn't call the changes "massive" to the tree, all it would be is a node branch much like how acrobatics looks branching down from one of the flat str nodes need the bottom of the middle of the tree pointing down towards duelist (which is were there actually is space to add this without moving the highway nodes around). And tacking on ancestral bond as the way for you to have an additional golem and only a little increase to life compared to what actual minions get I believe makes this only speccable for summoners/casters who aren't at the forefront of damage, simply because you cannot deal damage yourself which is kind of the point of melee. Golems should be a supplement to melee, not a buff to dual totem and summoner characters. ^^^I have very much changed my thoughts completely on how this skill should work and with whom it should work with, so to all those saying it should be a melee-only character skill, yes, I agree... Another note about the ancestral bond, this would make it so someone has 2 totems and 2 powerful melee "summons" doing all their bidding, which would be a HUGE buff to dual totem builds, which is why I suggest golems be their own type, with their own passive tree nodes that limits who can benefit the most from using them (pure melee). And pure melee can easily benefit from this significantly if they go Elemental damage, as long as the damage effectiveness is not super low for the golem. I'm considering completely changing the first part of the post to go more with what I believe it should be now, but I might keep it there and just make a note so it helps people formulate different better ideas or to expound on those ideas better...
