I hate MMOs with subs and I am not that friendly I mean I kind of like to be alone while I play but at the same time be part of something big. Is it safe to say that if I invest more time in PoE, I will get the experience where I want to play alone while I have to option and feeling that I am connected or part of something big? I am kind of turned off by MMOs having the need to have friends or a party so I was wondering if I invest more time in this it is worth it because its the experience I am looking for?
YES
YES YOU WILL
I JUMP BETWEEN SOLO AND GROUP
BUT ALWAYS THERE IS PEOPLE YELLING ABOUT AND ROUGHHOUSING
IT IS GOOD TIME

Most MMO's are tuned for solo play these days, there really is no forced grouping in games like EQ2 or WoW anymore.

You should check what MMO means. This is not an MMO but a very good game.
Technically, it's very much an MMO. It might not be your standard MMO RPG but it's an MMO nonetheless.
By most peoples definition it isn't - it lacks the "massive" which the first M stands for since it's instanced.

This is my favourite Third Person Shooter because it's not first person and my character is ranged using projectiles to attack.

I play this game solo 99% of the time, but I just love trading and global chat.
Though I wonder how this will change once open beta hits, and 8 of my friends will finally start playing.

Starcraft is an MMORTS, just because it's instanced doesn't mean it's not massively played. By most people's definition they misinterpret the meaning.
I suppose I define this based on playing MUD's where you'd have 40-50 people online at a time, compared to the thousands of players when B.Net hit and MMORPG's.

Technically, it is in no way shape or form an MMO, by definition, or theoretically. The industry doesn't consider it one, and as far as Ive seen, GGG does not consider it one.
Even suggesting its an MMO is actually harmful at this point, as the gaming community has grown tired of how many MMOs have been hyped and failed.
Path of Exile is an Online F2P ARPG.

Is this a big troll or something? I have never in all these years heard/seen a single person suggest that SC is an MMO. You are disgustingly misusing the term and misrepresenting games.
Both PoE and SC are missing the biggest part of what makes an MMO. A game being online and having lots of people playing does not make it an MMO.
Do some research and stop spreading misinformation.

How is this even a debate? If you think this is an MMO, read the very first sentence of the game overview: http://www.pathofexile.com/game

Read Gamasutra, GameDev, or any other well known game development website and SC would be classed as an MMORTS. Just because you're not running around collecting quests from NPC's with Exclamation points on them doesn't mean that it's not an MMO. If YOU did some research you'd see that a good amount of the industry defines these as MMOFPS/MMORPG/MMORTS etc.
This is why Path of Exile, and many other non-standard genre MMOG's are featured on various websites such as MMOHut, MMORPG.com, etc. MMO is strictly defined as a game where thousands of people play online simultaneously...look it up.

K, I looked it up
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massively_multiplayer_online_role-playing_game
MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player online RPGs by the number of players, and by the game's persistent world (usually hosted by the game's publisher), which continues to exist and evolve while the player is offline and away from the game.
