Do you think PoE needs a "Loot 2.0" overhaul?
+1 for smarter Crafting (wasted about 10 exalts)
+1 for better trading system (SPAMMING TRADE again and again and again with solid 5 links or gear with no responses, or ill offer 5 chaos for that is not fun and makes me quit game and play hearthstone) +1 for Less Microtransactions Bullshit and DESYNC FIXED ************ ive payed equal to the retail of a normal game already for POE and I still feel cheated sometimes because i know their racking in dough off those Micro's |

" this is actually true, I completely agree with this. Ive crafted some of my best gear. But heres the thing, most people cant get involved with it the way I have. Anuhart posted earlier, hes got 5000+ hours on the clock, I got 3000+, hes found 1 eternal orb and I found 1. Now its ok for me to say yeah crafting works for me, I etenral exalted this piece 15 times and bang, look at that nice tri res armour. He doesnt trade at all, hows he going to do that? Even people who trade, if theyre not clocking hours into the 1000s they're out of the crafting game too. I dunno how you buff crafting for those guys without buffing crafting for me and maybe you too by the sounds of it and certainly without buffing it for the real big crafters blowing 100s upon 100s of eternal exalts. Crafting low end is just spam, chaos spam, alt spam, fuse spam, thats why people call it gambling because they never get to that position where they can make meaningful crafts in a considered fashion. But, crafting cant be allowed to be really good because its like trade, AH is really good for trade but you just kill item hunting. So crafting has to be limited and niche. The way its limited to high end works well in terms of draining orbs from the rich, stopping the rich draining items from the economy etc, it works nicely in some ways but it has a cruel side. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" I've been trying to do this for a week now, probably about 35 hours of play total. I have the item sitting in my stash. It just took me 6 days of farming to finally get 6 sockets on it. Now to at least 5 link it. I spent all the fusings I found during that 6 days on it and I'm sitting at 3 2-links. I expect it'll take at least another week of farming (and probably converting all currency found during that time) to get it 5 linked. I'm not even going to bother with trying for a 6 link. And this is for a marginal (about 10% DPS increase) upgrade to one component, that will probably make me viable in level 69-70 maps, instead of the level 67-68 I'm at right now. Past level 70 or so on a character, it becomes extremely cost- and time-prohibitive to execute the kind of 'eking out' of performance improvements for your character. You either waste a bunch of currency putting to use a piece of gear with marginally better stats, or you horde it all while walking in place content-wise, hoping for the big upgrade it'll be worth socketing/linking, or you break down and buy something. I log in every day, see that marginal bow upgrade sitting there next to the empty spot where I keep my jewelers/fusings, and come just a bit closer to uninstalling. I even skipped my first premium stash tab bundle deal this weekend, because I don't know if I'll still be playing in a week. |

Yeah I can see that being a bit of a twat. I mean, one thing I like about self found, is finding items that aren't for the character that found them, that's 'build idea and reroll' time. Quite the contrary to Chris saying this can't be fun and that the only fun is in selling that item to buy something for that character.
But yeah, Blizz seem to have said, OK we doing BtA to take the focus off of trading so we need to smart loot to avoid the loot being useless. They overlooked that self found players have been self found without smart loot and getting along nicely with it. Now, not everyone would be fine without smart loot, a lot do play a single character only. I think the solution is quite simple, as simple as a smart loot toggle. " Well, stuff like gets yolo exalted and ends up with 29 life. Because which has been in crafting now for a full 11 months or around 4.5k hours, is front of the queue to get those last 2 mods as crit chance + CM or ias. Which will be the case for I guess the next 20 years or so (at 12-16 hours a day). Crafting, lol -_- Casually casual. Последняя редакция: TheAnuhart#4741. Время: 27 янв. 2014 г., 18:46:39

" I think that right there blows out of the water the theory that if exalts and eternals dropped more often, everyone would have GG gear within a week and stop playing. You could increase the drop rate of both by a factor of 10 (or maybe even 100) and a full set of GG gear for one spec could still take a year. I love the idea of crafting in this game. It sure would be nice if I could actually do it. |

Greetings...
Let me start off by saying that I have read all the posts in this thread. Also allow me to state that I am a new player - I've been playing this game for less than a month, and am just hitting the end of normal. Level 41. Within my limited experience, I would like to state that Path of Exile does *not* need a "Loot 2.0" overhaul. The drop rates, in my opinion, are just fine. I do agree with the suggestion that the mods on an item (affixes/suffixes) should be more geared to the area that it is dropped in. If an area is dropping an ilevel 50 item, it's affix/suffix result should be better than the earlier levels. If iLevel 30 items are giving "+x to life" (or any other statistic), then at iLevel 50, these modifications should be almost always better. Alternately, there should be reserved modifications: if an item has four abilities, at least 3 of them should be "of level", with the fourth one being true random. (In this way, some low level gear can have a single "awesome mod", while the rest are "of level"; at higher levels, you know you're going to get two or three decent mods, with one or two of them being potentially better [or worse]). I am a solo player, and will stick with whatever gear that I find/craft. I am not familiar enough with trades to participate in them. In my opinion, a player should not be _forced_ to trade in order to insure that they get great gear. With the Wheel of Randomness that comes from crafting, trading becomes an integral part of the game. As a solo player, though, I find that required trading as a drawback to the game, rather than a draw. This game is about "open door, kill monster, find treasure"; I should not have to spend more time attempting to trade for an item than it takes to find comparable items. Finding items via trade should make things easier, not a requirement. As for Crafting: After reading this threads I understand crafting a lot better. Which is both good and bad. Good, because now I understand that everything about crafting is random success. Bad, because without a way to guarantee some type of success at some point really makes me sad, and has me reconsidering continued playing. I am all for the common crafting being normal, but there should be some formulae that have guaranteed success. If I have to "grind" for a specific amount of materials to have a chance to gain a certain setup (normal crafting), there should be a rare, or more expensive, method to guarantee a result. I play games like this to have fun. I start these games mainly for the storyline and the fun in experiencing the game. (A true "casual" player, I guess.) If I am replaying the storyline, and this creates a grinding effect, then I am happy. If I am, however, required to visit, and revisit, and revisit, the same area over and over because that's the only way to progress, I will quickly loss interest. As a solo player, I should be able to enjoy the game without being forced to trade in order to succeed. No, I don't think we need a "Loot Overhaul". I do think that we could do well with some Loot Tweaks so that the gear that is dropped later on is more relative. I don't mind the occasional non-relative drop; it gives me incentive to try other classes and builds. I am not totally thrilled with the craft system randomness, but I think it adds a little bit of fun to the game. I do think, however, that there should be some way or formula to guarantee some type of success. Need to guarantee an additional socket to an item? Generate a rare/expensive formula that can guarantee a success; the needs of the formula can be increased depending on how many sockets the item already has. Cap the formula so that it cannot generate six sockets. Need to guarantee a specific color of a socket? Generate a rare/expensive formula that can guarantee a certain color being generated. It can easily be based upon the type of item and/or the color being changed from. These recipes need not be cheap, but should not be unattainable. This would give even people like me a reason to grind - because I know that at some point I will be able to successfully craft at least one item to my liking. If maps are supposed to be an important function of the end-game, why not grant special items and/or vendors that can achieve this? Complete a map with two affixes/suffixes? Choose one of these rewards - just like the end of a quest. One (or more) of these items can easily be a "Green Socket Gem"; which when used can the color of a socket to Green. Any of the crafting possibilities can be generated in this way. That's my two dollars - this post is way too long to be only two cents. Sorry I couldn't be more brief. Until that time... |

" No offence but at level 41 you havent really seen any of the itemization problems. The first real gear check of the game is in cruel dominus (level 48-50), if youre solo that is Dogs Summoner - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/885199

" Greetings... No offense taken, by any measure. The reason that I mentioned my low level, in fact, was to accent my inexperience with the game. It is my hope that the experiences to come continue to make this a great game to play; I did want to contrast, as well as link, my experiences to what was being said in this thread. Again; the stories and anecdotes that I have been hearing have generated a certain sense of dread of continuing to higher levels, though. Until that time... |
