Empower/Enlighten/Enhance

Why is the XP required to level these gems so ridiculous?

First of all, the gems are drop only.

Second, I'm nearing completion of leveling my 6th class to level 65 as part of the Domination challenge and I have never found one of these gems.

Third, I traded for an Empower Gem. After obtaining it, I put Empower on my 2nd Ranger for the season while leveling the Ranger from 31 to 52. In addition, when switching to my higher level Scion and Ranger for Piety MF runs, I moved the Empower gem to these characters while doing the MF runs so Empower would gain XP. Furthermore, when I started my brand new Summoner Witch awhile back, I moved the Empower gem to her and have now leveled from 1 to 56.

Forth, these gems only have 3 levels (barring being boosted by +gem level) where Level 2 of the gem is usable at character level 10; level 3 of the gem is usable at character level 45.

All of this is a serious WTF as you cannot find these gems to even start leveling them and even if they were handed to you as reward for killing the first Zombie you encounter after being dumped on the beach, they would still be unusable after beating Dominous in Merciless. This is completely ridiculous when level 2 of these gems are supposed to be usable by level 10 characters and level 3 of these gems are supposed to be usable by level 45 characters.

In their current state these gems are not much fun.
If i am not mistaken there quality % increases the experience gain.

These gems where introduced to give GCP utility again after the GCP 20% recipe was discovered by the community.

And they can be extremely strong in the right build so i think they are fine.

As for the level restriction, these are "toy" gems, they are never needed for a build to play true the content, but if you have them you will have some fun with it.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
I agree 100%. It's like a life-long commitment to one of these gems...
A little too much grind...

GCP are as usable for their intended purpose as Exalted Orbs are because neither drop often enough. So people hoard them and then use them to buy exactly what they want. Or in the case of GCP, hoard them until they have leveled a desired gem to level 20 and then use ONE to create a level 1, q20 gem.
they need to have their xp tuned down to reach similar amounts of xp required for lvl 20 gem.

to put it simply, tey are not for flavor, most if not all spells would benefit greatl from a lvl3 empower p.e., it is the same as changing "melee damage" support to need so much xp to level.

enhance is a great gem too for curses, maybe the best way atm to scale curses

enlighten is absolute garbage, i don't even know what they were thinking with the numbers they gave it.

mathematically you LOSE xp for using it...

It's more like a multi-lifetime commitment. Judging by what I have done to level my Empower gem so far and it's current amount of XP, I can leave Empower on my Witch's unused weapon-switch while I make my way from level 56 to level 65+, and then create several more brand new level one characters and level them to 65+ doing the same, and Empower would still not be level 2 and usable.

Really? I have a level 52 Poison Arrow Ranger shelved and sitting idle waiting for Empower to hit Level 2 so I can player her and have fun. While my current Witch is fun, and switching characters for MF runs is fun, and I have to create and/or level a Templar to 65 for a challenge, having to continually move Empower from character to character as I play is not fun, especially when all said and done, Empower will still not be usable without hours upon hours more of grinding for no reason.

If Level 2 of these gems can be used at character level 10, Level 3 at character level 45, and there is no character level requirement for gem Level 1, then why can I not equip one of these Level 1 gems at Level 1, level up to 15 or 20, and have the gem be level 2 and usable at that point? The same goes for keeping the gem equipped and proceeding to level up to 50 or 55 have the gem be level 3 at that point.

I just don't get GGG's thinking on this.
i takes around 2 billion exp to get to level 3 on empower

i only takes around 320 million to get a normal gem to level 20

where the hell did ggg get their maths , where ever it is that place needs to be condemned .

Where the hell did you get your math?

Empower needs 1,439,190,228 - 226,854,909 XP to level it from level 2 to 3. With 20q you get +100% exp, so you need around 606 million xp.

200 ish plus 1.4 ish is 2 billion ish. if we want to be technical then sure 1 billion 600 million is more accurate

but 2 billion is much easier to say than 1 billion 660 million etc

and not everyone is willing to play 20 gcp on one gem for quality, that is beyond retarded

Ya, no kidding. As I stated in my OP, I'm on my 6th class to 65+ this league. Plus, I have played some classes more than once to their 30's to 50's. In all this time, I've found a whopping 6 GCP, which is a drop rate that doesn't allow the currency to be used for its intended purpose, except for the Vendor recipe that turns a Level 20 gem into a Level 1, 20 Quality gem.
