PoE shows up in Nvidia Control Panel as 'Phantasy Star Online', preventing adjustment of settings.
I have a Dell XPS 17 with both integrated Intel graphics and a discreet Nvidia Gt555M GPU.
Path of Exile automatically chooses the integrated Intel graphics over the discreet Nvidia GPU. In the Nvidia Control Panel, when I try to fix this and adjust settings for PoE, the PoE exe shows up as Phantasy Star Online instead of Path of Exile and all adjustment options are greyed out. I cannot select the Nvidia GPU for use nor adjust any other settings. I presume there is either something not implemented correctly with the PoE exe or something wrong on Nvidia's end in the drivers. Another thing of note is that on my separate gaming PC, which runs dual NVidia GPU's in SLI, the Path of Exile exe also does not show up as Path of Exile in the Nvidia Control Panel, but rather as 'Dragon MMO', but it at least lets me adjust settings on that PC. These are longstanding issues - its been this way since I first joined closed beta many months ago. |

Have you tried going to Options in the launcher and selecting your gfx card?

mine does the same, all you have to do is right-click the game icon and goto "run with graphics processor" then select your nivida card....you will have to do this everytime you run the game

The launcher does not allow selecting the dedicated Nvidia GPU. It only recognizes the integrated Intel graphics.
I imagine this has to do with Path of Exile being flagged as Phantasy Star Online, which is an ancient game. For some people it shows up as Phantasy Star Online 2, which is not even a PC game. It's an iOS/Android game. It's an odd and old bug. I'm surprised it hasn't been addressed in all this time. Then again, I know they have their hands full. |

" Thanks, that's something at least. It allows me to force the use of the dedicated GPU, but still does not allow for the configuration of settings in the graphics driver. |

the main reason seems to be that nvidia uses executable name for distinguish between applications.
PoE exe is named "client". Not a very descriptive name. may be the developer could rename the exe to PoE or something |

Cmon GGG,this is still an issue.
Client.exe ...... $2k Alienware and I get HD 4000. lol Please adjust your .exe GGG. =) If Nvidia is correct than all these years I've been playing Phantasy Star online 2. hehe Последняя редакция: Temper#7820. Время: 31 июл. 2013 г., 08:24:58

Actual game is "Client.exe" , PoE.exe is just a launcher that closes after Client.exe is launched. And Client.exe is in nV profiles already for some other games, idk if that makes a mess or not but tweaking it doesn't seem to change anything in the game.

Bump. Bought a newlaptop and have this problem, but i still get 70 fps with on board graphics.
Edit: The funny thing is that after renaming client.exe into poe.exe the patcher downloaded 8mb worth of files to replace the old client.exe lol I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready. Последняя редакция: Pyrokar#6587. Время: 10 сент. 2013 г., 09:03:24
