It's not a terrible outlook. As this game's development progresses more and more "griefers" are going to crop up. The posters in this thread are giving the OP tough love. This isn't the first time someone mislead another into killing their hardcore character and it sure as heck won't be the last. A lot of people are right, develop friendships with people you can trust or play solo or if you are going to play public games enter at your own risk.

I also said pretty much the same thing about who to form parties with, its just that this should be used as a cautionary tale and not as a GTFO bashothon. And i stand by my statement you shouldnt have the kill or be killed attitude in game or rl. :)but thanks for the cool post

Well, when a person wants to play multi-player but is being dissuaded to do so by game mechanics then there's something wrong, especially since ARPGs are known for being co-op.
The developers sound like they want this game to be similar to EVE Online or something. It's almost as if they want to facilitate jerks within the game. There's nothing "cut-throat" about a singular instance where people can dick over others over by lying to them. That's called griefing.

Group for ANY boss as a witch. When the fight starts, Icewall some random pug in tight with the boss and then port back to town.

seems like kind of a dick thing to do but hardcore has always been dangerous that's the appeal.
even in Diablo 3 I remember people getting tricked into porting into the cow level(rainbow level) and getting killed instantly in hardcore.
