What makes PoE Good?
Because the game allows you to build a character in a more impactful way than any other ARPG. That's why we play. This comes at the cost of the early game--you move and attack slower, and your skills aren't as interesting initially. The focus is theorycrafting and itemization. The fact that skills are not class-locked is what enables this.
If you're really hung up on the graphics and areas, and if none of that sounds appealing, then you're probably better off just uninstalling now. Последняя редакция: Uvne#0425. Время: 10 апр. 2014 г., 18:49:15

So how is this related to feedback again?
Isn't this more suited for general discussion? |
![]() |
I suppose it is sort of a back handed negative feedback.
I, for one, think the graphics and visuals serve the atmosphere and the gameplay quite well. I'm a big fan of the mechanics, and the play style. The combat is fun and engaging. The weapons and attacks are tactile and interesting. The combinations of skills and supports allows for fun discoveries of various possible gameplay styles. I like the feeling of progressing to become a powerful character through the progress of the game. I like how it evolves and changes, keeping things fresh. PS - What does the OP mean by ' the map of the area ' ? Does he mean the area design, the world map, or the minimap? "I would have listened... I would have understood!" - Scion

" Actually a good question, why did you started to play? Just because of it's rating? First of all I love RPG, I like Skyrim, Mass Effect, classic games like Diablo 2 or even Zelda. I enjoy games that let you customize your character's looks and skills, the more the better. I also like the item art and the style of the game, although I agree that it is a bit clunky and poorly optimized (has there been any improvement on this yet?) Don't agree with your statement that characters have no abilities, what you're basically saying is "The characters have no abilities, it's just from abilities" In fact there are a lot of abilities and synergies between passives, abilities and items. That is what I think makes the game very potential. I also have a lot of negative thoughts, but not really about the map. The way the map looks is party intended and it might be upgraded later I hope. The design of the passive skill tree is in general a very original design that looks like there are many possible builds. The down side in my opinion was the idea to make base stats, that you would usually level up on the character panel, are now part of this thee. So instead of leveling base stats and passives at the same time, it feels like you're wasting a lot of potential offensive customizations by stacking base stats. Also the crafting is not satisfying enough for me. I love crafting items in games and that's also the reason that I don't mind the random unrewarding loot very much. Orbs will drop that's for sure but their usability is one big gamble. Instead of making use of the orb you where so happy about when it dropped, it's wasted. Instead players with less time and less wealth (also less hardcore?) are wiser when they trade their orbs for items with others. Now GGG sometimes mentioned another concept: Meaningful. I think it would be a lot more meaningful if we were able to actually "craft". " What skill does it require to completely randomize an item? Or to buy an item? Crafting an item is customizing it with skill and I don't mind some RNG but it has to be balanced. Последняя редакция: Startkabels#3733. Время: 11 апр. 2014 г., 16:41:52

Largely the same reasons that people liked D2.
The loot system is basically a giant slot machine, every time you kill a monster/use a currency item etc. you pull the handle. You get crap for 90% of the time, but then that other 10% you get a big payout and you're right back to feeling awesome. If you want AAA graphics go play CoD or one of those other games that lasts about a week before you're bored. "there is no spoone" - The Matricks Последняя редакция: Zeekin#4930. Basically it is free.
The stuff GGG copied from other games is ok. The stuff gg came up with like crafting and trading is horrid. With the bad loot system/craft system coupled with server lag/desynce, makes pvp unappealing. So char stagnate very quickly once you get to the point you don't feel like spending endless hours trying to gear them. |

What makes POE good?
It is the first game to truly have that Diablo 2 feel. Unfortunately, the feel doesn't last long once you realize this game is just one giant pigeonhole filled with RNG. |

I think that thing or feeling resonating so profoundly is the hope and promise the game suggests to the player through the myriad customization options and the multiple layers thereof. Couple that with a challenge, everyone wants what they can't have, and you've got an addicting game experience. Add in to that the total random nature of most upgrades you get the feeling that at any moment you could strike it big or get an item that's just right and you'll get a good little high from it.
PS: I hate how people continually compare this game to D2/3. PoE has grown beyond that comparison and has carved out its own little niche within the ARPG world. Respect it for what it is and has become! ^^ Последняя редакция: GeorgAnatoly#4189. Время: 10 апр. 2014 г., 22:14:39

" Horrendous? My God, not hoorendous. But if you are the type of player that needs Cry engine graphics to enjoy a game I understand you. I remember that my very first game was super mario bros on NES! Graphic it's ok for me in this game but anyway it isn't the priority when I play a videogame.
