GGG has mentioned several times that they expect players to take breaks.

In between leagues is the obvious time to have such break.

As I've said, I don't give two shits about steam data. Most Steam gamers move from one FOTM game to the next FOTM game more often than I change shirts.

Those numbers and whatever 'trend' you want to derive from them is purely irrelevant.

They had multiple one week races, 1 month leagues and other shit in the past.

I think it's because the next expansion will be late (better late than repeating vanilla Invasion) and creating a 1-month league with a mashup of old mods, doesnt really cost them anything, so why not appease the crowd? panem et circenses!
