Is Path of Exile the most expensive game you've played?

Nope, world of Warcraft is the most expensive even though i've not played it in years.

Say £25 for the base game and expacs up to cataclysm £100 and a monthly sub of £8.99 from end of 2006 to mid 2011 totals out at £531, PoE still has 300/400 pounds to go.

Nope, I spent $210 on Hellgate London getting the game brand new and also a Founder pack. Only spent about $100 on POE, not sure exactly, but probably less than that even.

Next most expensive was Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 because I had to buy a Wii for that. That was like $150 each, amortizing the system.

Out of interest why did you carry on playing then? Why are you still here.

I agree with you on one thing, time is very valuable. Why waste it on something you don't seem to enjoy?

I'm genuinely interested.
It is a toss up between Sid Meier's Pirates ( the original 1987 version and the remake) as I have bought physical copies multiple times and PoE. Civilization Call to Power comes in a distant third place.
There were a lot of games which were expensive to play for me, not expensive that time but when I think about it now...

I played 9Dragons for 3 years since 2007 and I loved that MMORPG for the community and for the chinese art and the open historical world. The game had an item mall like almost every free to play MMORPG's and I think I bought stuff for like 300 € in total throughout those 3 years.

I also played WoW for 2 and a half year total, stopped when the pandas came out but I bought and tried the expansion. After 1 month, I quit. So I had to buy the games the original copies in the local store which was 39,99 € each at the time ( consists of 4 games needed total ) and an additional 12,99 € per month ( if I remember correctly ) for 30 months. Do the math yourself, I rather not :D

League of Legends on the other hand... I play since beta ( about 4 years maybe more ), I have 3 different accounts, 20 rune pages on all, every champion on my main account and about 112 skins total. Bought 50 % of them on sale tho.

Underworld Empire is an excellent MMORPG for iOS ( it was recently released for the Andriod aswell ) but its a pay to win game. I play it for 2 years and the game is very expensive. I am like 250 € deep in the game which means nothing. There are guys which bought stuff for more than 80,000 $ in a mobile game !

And finally, the most expensive game I still play is Magic the Gathering. My online account has cards for more than 1000 $ and my real card collection over the 14 years I play the game has expanded to a whopping 5000 €+ in value which is not much but for me it is good. I have thousands of cards at home in my collectors albums, but there are cards which are priced at 10.000 $ - 20,000 $ per piece !

Yeah... games overall ( or call it a different form of entertainment ) are very expensive today.

I can answer you that too, because I feel the same. I am here because I have nothing to do in the work, I am visiting a lot of forums not just this one. And as for this game, I believed it will became something better over time something I want to put a lot of time into not just spamming one skill and doing maps over and over. I am here to be entertained on the forums not to play the game itself.

Its up there, top 3 for sure.

If I would have known PoE would become this at the time of my supporting I couldnt imagine spending more than $50-100 though.

^ As far as time is concerned, the amount of time ive spent playing PoE compared to the money ive spent is pretty unfortunate.

A few hundred dollars for a couple thousand hours playtime seems great, but not when compared to the $50 retail price paid for games Ive easily played twice as long.

Ill bite, was the game you spent more on of a similar financial model to PoE? Free to play without pay to win and stuffs?

We know it's free to play, but I'm sure the majority of us have actually ended up paying a fair amount.

For me, PoE has been the MOST expensive game i have ever played, champions $270, Apprentice $50, $20 CB pack (denied the pack :( but still spent $20).

At $340, there is no other game that comes even close to what i've spent on PoE.

Woot? How do you have the costum forum avatar when you "only" spent 340$ ?

On topic: Yes, I have never payed more for any game before. No regrets. (Except for not buying the Gold-Supporter-Pack in CB)

Not sure, have spent maybe ~$300 on PoE. I did spend alot on the monthly subscriptions to Planetside 1, and I did spend about ~$50 on Planetside 2, so maybe those add up to more.

Game? Nope. Chess takes that title easily.

PC Game? Yeah, but on a per hour basis it's still pretty cheap.
