It is just mean. This guy put some actual effort into making a guide. If it doesn't accumulate enough upvotes it should not reach first page in subreddit regardless.

I'm banned from PoE Reddit.

Why? At one time I said poe.trade (well, poe.xyz.is at the time) was ruining the game. It was a fairly silly opinion to hold, but yeah. I didn't do anything more outrageous than saying the site should cease to be. I'm still banned.

Mean? /recordeyeroll I've seen people on reddit say that people abuse downvoting and that it should only be used on negative threads to limit how many people see it. Terrible builds seems like a reasonable target.

I don't think there's many people at this point that would argue reddit isn't a shithole, but seeing someone who has negative comment karma and shits on the community(OP), complaining about how shitty the community is, is just amazing.

I did not intend to shit on the poe reddit community XD. I think it is simply not large enough to hold 2 or more strong opposing circlejerks, which makes it "dangerous" to hold unpopular opinions.

To exemplify what happens when there are two strong opposing circlejerks A & B: let's say a topic supporting circlejerk A is posted, then "many" from circlejerk A will upvote it, while a "few" from circlejerk B will downvote it. Overall result is positive. Analogous process happens for when a topic supporting circlejerk B is posted.


Let's say circlejerk A is much much stronger than B. Then if a topic supporting circlejerk B is posted, many from circlejerk B will upvote it, and a few from circlejerk A will downvote it. However, since A is so much bigger than B, B's effect is either of similar magnitude of the one of A, or much smaller, which makes an overall positive result unlikely.

They fire people in real life, nowadays. Being a contrarian is well on its way to becoming a criminal act in most places.
