Detailed overview of Diablo 3 vs. Path of Exile
The only thing better about Diablo 3 is that it has cutscenes, the gameplay is smoother due to no desync, and it is accessible to [Removed by Support]. That's about it. I disagree with most of what is said in that graphic positive about d3.
What I always tell people is, just consider how much playtime you want to put into a game. If it's less 50-60 hours, play Diablo 3. If it's 60-100+ hours, play PoE. Because when you click to move you will send the info to the server and after [insert_your_ping_here] you will start the action. In PoE you will move without any delay. Server has close to no idea what you want to do. There's no problem with waiting for server response in LoL because it's slow. Who knows, maybe PoE would feel much better with similar approach. I'm guessing GGG tried every option and they said "fuck this delayed bullshit, it's better to deal with serious desync". Hacks in LoL? What do you want to do there? This game is simplified to the point where hacks won't help you much. As long as no one runs with maphack it's all fine. Some shady aim skill shots maybe a thing? LoL is the bottom of gaming bottle. |

But question remains - what for? Everyone will rate it differently, and if you already played both... what do you need that for? " Only half true. :@ You can use "motion prediction", which might cause a little bit of desyncs, but won't stop all the movement if you lag for a moment. This causes some "desyncs" from time to time. And was made for casual players, not for hardcore play... oh wait, is standard hardcore?, no, so, why the standard players are fine with the death penalty?, are they hardcore players too compared with D3 players?, it seems. " That's actually true. League of Legends does not use any predictive modeling that I'm aware of. You await confirmation from server for most everything. Desync really isn't a thing....lag will be easily noticed though. Thanks for all the fish!

If I were to be selfish for a minute, I would convert the mechanics over to this model -- but I happen to live in a well connected region of a country that has a server. My latency is negligible.
I desync, like everyone else. But it's rarely game breaking or grave. Just the same, in my selfish world, I could live without it if this change were made. I also recognize that there are less advantaged players that would be heavily hindered because of where they live and the network/server infrastructure topology as implemented. I can live with my current state. It really is not a thing for me. (for the reading impaired, that is not a statement that desync does not exist...just that it rarely bothers me) Thanks for all the fish!
