Are they really? I hadn't seen that one yet. Yeah, everyone is making a MOBA so I figured, why not one in the PoE universe.

Because the MOBA genre is saturated as fuck. Every indie developer and their mothers these days wants to create a MOBA. It started with WC3's DotA, then LoL, then HoN, then Smite, DotA2, Heroes of the Storm, Strife, etc. And now even mobile games have MOBAs. They're all the same shit. 5v5, push to win, yell at your teammates along the way.

I really wish this MOBA trend would die down. If you think PoE's community is bad at times, the MOBA community is eons worse. Every match you play, you'll have players on both teams yelling at each other for the entire 45min-1hr duration. Doesn't matter which MOBA. I've been playing MOBA's since the beginning days of WC3, and have "quit" the genre more times than I'd like to count. Every time I reinstall a MOBA game, I do so because the MOBA eSports hype makes me think I've missed something. Nope! Same uncooperative teammates in pubs. Even in professional matches, you can see professional players screaming at each other.

MOBAs truly bring out the worst qualities in people, turning otherwise polite humans into raving lunatics.

Not all mobas are the same, HotS for example is much different compared to a classic moba like LoL/Dota/HoN.

To be fair, I was sort of being Tongue-in-Cheek with my MOBA comment. Rrtson sort of hit the nail on the head. I've never really been able to get into them myself but when the question was asked, I'm sure I wasn't the only one to think MOBA. I do not anticipate them to create one (certainly hope not). My natural sarcasm doesn't quite translate to gaming forums. :)

I honestly thought "Grinding Gear Games" was a plural sentence.
