you know what... FUCK TRADE!
" shame is kind of an abstract term, when one chooses to keep someone guessing for >15 minutes, in order to avoid saying "no thanks" a minute after the league switch. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat

Just to keep the ball rolling on this, I also had a shitty interaction in the last league where I messaged a player to buy an item (same league, about 10c so worth interacting for). I got a reply back "in a map, can you wait a few minutes?". Sure, no problem take your time I say.
10 minutes. Nothing. Hey that's OK, maybe he had only just started. 20 minutes. Nothing. Maybe it's one of those huge maps. 30 minutes. Still nothing so I send a message: Hey, just wanted to check in and see how you're going, no rush but wanted to make sure you know I'm still around. "That player is not logged in". Motherf..... Assholes, just like Ninjas, they're everywhere :) So how do we address this? Well I have two suggestions: 1. You can rate traders just like ebay feedback. Yeah, I can see this getting abused right away. 2. GGG introduce a new Master: Mr Colesworth. He's automatically available from level 24 and is additional to your Hideout Master limit just like Leo whatshisface. He comes with 8 standard tabs and you can purchase additional tabs from GGG. You load all your sale items with this Master and he sells them for you while you're away conquering Wraeclast. That way you don't need to interrupt a map, wait for anyone else, etc. you just jump into the HO, buy what you need and leave. So simple! Ah, maybe in PoE 3.0 |

" I have had the pleasure of that experience Aldora, usually they just forget. But it's still really annoying as it feels like you're bugging them or being pushy when really you asked as nicely as you could and they kept you hanging. Blah I still always message them back, it's not your fault after all. Also I do like the idea of rating traders, maybe have a timed window between actually trading with them to reduce abuse so that not anyone can down their rating. You would actually have to trade with them to have the ability to rate them. To add, I don't know how GGG are going to manage a trade system. I really hope we just don't see an auction house. I believe GGG are better than that but we will see. |

" Yes, this is a good reason to make ANOTHER thread about trading. :-S Sarcasm aside, we actually need trade overhaul. QUICK. We all had those shitty trades. But until new trade systems rolls in, it will remain that way. And it is really damaging to the game to keep crap like this in. I really hope GGG finally gets that idea, just like with the desync. Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.

yes, "universal trade tabs" are a possible answer, which allows no-interaction trade no matter what the seller or buyer are doing at that moment.
they would also allow trade while the seller is offline, if the buyer has information about which tab to access, and what to put there in exchange. however, GGG want players to interact. and not because they necessarily care about players' online social-life. interaction is a way to show off MTX. that's why the game is so face-to-face-trade centered. that's also why players start in towns upon log-in, even though everyone have hideouts at this point. it pains me to say this, but the same people who have the ability of sparing me the "pleasure" of dealing with that one scum buyer, who made me switch a league then hung me out to dry for a quarter of an hour until I took the hint - likely won't do it. because they don't give a fuck about my personal experience trading, as long as I meet the other non-scum sellers/buyers, who also happened to buy that shiny new Weapon Effect yesterday. well I won't. because I fucking hate trading, and things like this happening almost every time I do give it a try - make me hate it even more. "without interaction game generates far less revenue for them Id venture to say. they gotta eat too. interaction is what this game is built on heavily. I dont think poe is at a state where it can just branch off into bunch of non-interacting self-found silos and be successful financially still. |

" I can understand that, from a business point of view. but then I can also understand EA and Activision, from a business point of view. it doesn't mean I - as a player - agree with the kind of point of no return, GGG's own financial model puts them into. and it doesn't mean I - as a player - don't wish EA and Activision would burn in hell for their rushed-half-cooked, brand-abused, day-1-DLC sins against gamer-kind. just noticed my Flashback characters transferred to Standard, and I have 4 more tabs full of stuff in need to get rid of...
heck I may just give it away for free, instead of going through the trade thing. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat

"lets not confuse the two here. you can enjoy poes gameplay, content and everything else without trade if you like to. its not as 'convenient' but thats the outcome of F2P mantra with mtx making a large part of their income. there is no such option with the activision/ea stuff |

also true.
though my post was an extreme example of why the two approaches - "businessman" and "player" - are so radically different. I certainly wasn't comparing GGG to Sata... ahem I mean EA. the "businessman" part of me understands why GGG do it. heck, I'd probably do it too if I was in the gaming industry instead of "boring" software. and it's countless times morally better, than just going full Pay-To-Win like most F2Ps do these days, or selling one's soul and embracing the practices of some "big publishers" of the gaming industry. ...but as a player in Path Of Exile, and a person who grew up playing in an era where game creators were code-nerds like the one I grew up to be, who basically made games they themselves would play the crap out of - I hope some day GGG say "you know? why don't we just give people everything they want? remove all artificial restraints, and make the game fucking old-school epic?". that would be the point where SFL, risk/reward, offline-trade, countless QoL changes, and hasted, Ghosted Beyond Bosses and Exiles everywhere, make my PoE dream come true. one can only dream.
