Packet loss/ lag spikes? please help

I can't provide a video but I can describe it. Imagine holding your mouse down to move in a straight line across town. I run smoothly while ping is at 15, when it jumps to 300 I will stop moving for a brief moment before continuing. It is incredibly frustrating...

"

That is why I'm keen to think it is something on your system causing resource contention and causing a delay in client processing (which would produce latency spikes on the meter as well as temporary stutters in the client's ability to render).

This seems like it very well could be the issue but I have no clue why it would have just started in the past 2 days. I haven't downloaded anything new or made any changes to my computer. The reason I thought it could have been network related was because my home connection was 'upgraded' a few days ago and I received a new modem.

It could very well be network related. I'd check the system monitor and video card graph too.

Does this problem persist when in predictive mode instead of lockstep? Adjust that option from the login page options.

With predictive mode on I get rubberbanding (desync?) whenever a spike occurs. Either that or straight up delayed lag. I'll cyclone through mobs and they die a second or two later.

So I watched my resource monitor for a bit while running around in PoE. Whenever I spike in PoE I spike on 'Network activity'. 1Kbps to 10-30Kbps.

below are the activities. They jump around in amount of sent/received. I have not included internet explorer (only this forum page), skype, or path of exile.

svchost.exe (netsvcs)
svchost.exe (utcsvc)
svchost.exe (LocalServiceAndNoImpersonation) <----------shoots high frequent;y
svchost.exe (imgsvc) <---------------------Will shoot very high rarely
svchost.exe (LocalServiceNetworkRestricted)
mcshield.exe (mcaffe even though disabled)

As a side note I have run numerous malware scans etc. Will contact ISP tomorrow to try to revert to the old internet.

Stop and disable SSDP Detection in the Services window.

If you have nvidia: open the nvidia control panel => Desktop dropdown menu => uncheck all the stuff including 'add "Run with graphics processor" to context menu'.

It's probably the Windows service being bad.

RESOLVED

wow man... that was it. Disabled SSDP and did the nvidia stuff and now i bounce from 13-17 :D

Is there a way I can +1 you guys or something like that?

I have never experienced this kind of help from a community for any game I have ever played.

Thank you so much!!!!
Looks like someone owes Ionface a beer.

It would be kind of nice to know which of those suggestions did the trick for you for future reference. Maybe try running with your nvidia options back on and just have the SSDP Detection service disabled.

Could be useful information in the future.

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?

Looks like SSDP Detection Service is the issue.
