More state control instead of the Neoliberalism that influenced Europe over the last decades (coming from the U.S. and U.K.; changed European culture more than any immigration, I think) might have been useful. Certain things should not be in private hands, like energy, public transportation, healthcare, prisons - instead I witnessed a huge wave of privatization when I was younger. (There are still no private prisons here, that would be completely unethical) Now for example, the Russian Gazprom owns about 30% of our gas storages. What a wise idea. The world is not business only.
