[WARNING] I got my account hacked

Hi everyone

I did not think a day like this would come to me but here I am my account got wiped out with all valuable items and currencies..

My computer has Malwarebyte running all time, runs Microsoft Security Essentials at least 3 times a day and lastly I log in through Steam with SteamGuard activated. How can something like this happen? no one has access to my steam account and this happened to me.

I honestly cannot think of any possible way ( at least within my knowledge ) of someone being able to hack my account. Steam did not notify me with anything.

I just don't know where to start but about 7~8 hrs ago I started using procurement instead of acquisition because I feel better arranging my shop in visual manner, everything was going smooth and before I log out some guy name KingWangJang ( I may be wrong with the name ) whispered me and wanted to trade with me but deal never went through as he did not respond to me at all except his initial message. He joined my party and left the party silently, I have no idea if this can indicate any signs of hacking.

This is super disturbing to me because I have never once got my account hacked in any game I have played in my life and this happened. I am feeling extremely insecure about my computer right now and I just cant catch anything through anti malware and anti virus programs I am using.

I am extremely discouraged right now from playing this game even though I put in like 14 hrs a day since league started.. rather disappointment and discouragement are much bigger and having a big impact on me right now.

I am writing this so that other people are aware of what can happen and to let everyone know the activities I made prior to getting my account hacked. I hope this does not happen to anyone else and GGG can take an extra security measure to prevent this from happening to our community and potentially be able to help me out with this situation.

As of right now, I am going to contact steam support to see if they are able to provide me with login history to see if it matches to logins I've made.

That's so damn terrible.

It may or may not matter but where did you download the procurement you're using from?

The same thing happened to me during the Warbands league. It was the first league I started using procurement and poe trade. Up until then I had been playing just self found with a tiny bit of trade chat here and there. I believe it had something to do with procurement since that it obviously where it detects your entire inv and stash.

After a week or so, my account then had its password constantly changed. I could change it back via the website and my email. But then it would get changed again. This may have been some auto password changer (if thats possible) considering they took everything and I had nothing left every time I tried to come back.

I stopped playing since the 2nd half of warbands until this league. Now I'm using an account I made a long time ago on accident and never used. I did lose all my stash tabs though which kind of sucks. I feel ya though, really sucks. If your email has a similar password to your poe one, I would suggest changing that, just in case.

If you haven't already, I would recommend changing the password associated with your email address, as Steam Guard typically requires somebody to access the code they would send you when accessed from a new device.

I did send out an email to support@grindinggear.com. Steamguard never activated for this incident because there was no email sent from steam to give access code. Thanks for your prompt response to this thread and hopefully something can work out.. I just feel like I lost all my energy to do anything at this point.

But this is why I don't use any third party software in any game. Problem is, they get tolerated from developers at one point if they prove useful and if that one guy decides "Well, has been long enough. Trust has been built. How do I know this? GeDoSaTo. Someone modified it and tried to download some virus on my computer. Luckily I invested into security software, so it got detected and fucked pretty hard.

Sad but true: If you wanna stay safe, don't be lazy and do it yourself. I know it might suck more, but at least you are safe from any damages.

Thanks for your reply. my password is pretty complicating and I run like 3 different type of computer security programs so I am just really shocked how this happened ( i am pretty computer savvy except I do not know how to hack people's computer )

Did you log in into procurement with your login+password, or with the browser session key?
