This game and its small letters.
Today i just wasted 11 divines since i had an item with the mods i wanted and ilvl 84 so i wanted to try divining these values...
after i just wasted the divines i noticed the values were always +1 or -1 was like wtf, then after i wasted them all i went to the wiki and saw the small letters which says they will only reroll in the actual tier... So divines are totally useless. Just a heads up to everyone. the info on the item states it very clear "Randomises the numeric values of the random properties on an item" "Right click this item then left click a magic, rare, or unique item to apply it." Where the fuck does it says it will roll in its own tier? fucking GGG again. i really feel scammed with my curency xD. Последняя редакция: Alphadan#2240. Время: 12 янв. 2016 г., 01:22:17

Well, it would be kinda dumb, right? If you had a 'merciless siege axe' a divine orb could change it to 'cruel siege axe', that's not changing the numeric value, that's changing the affix.
Divines are mostly used on uniques, they have very high roll range and the value of many uniques depends on the value of 'that one roll'. Also on rolls that have very few values to start with, for instance mana on hit jewels, if you had a really good one with 1 mana on hit you may want to divine it to 2, it would double the mana gain from it. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Yet another case of blaming the game creators for your own failure to research. If GGG gave you every answer it would be just like using cheat codes and effectively ruining the game, My advise is research before you invest there are plenty of us who have taken the risks for you and don't mind sharing the info.

" I'll have you know I'm taking offense at that, in some parts of the world it is considered manly. ![]() Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

All part of the learning process. It's fine to experiment with cheaper currency and duplicate gear, but rare currency and good gear should be treated with a bit of respect and researched first.
I have not used any Exalts or Divines because I have so few of them, Regals because I don't have gear worthy of it, and Regrets because I have been living off full respecs and passive respec points. Blesseds hardly seem worth the bother. I researched what they do on the wiki long ago though! All other currency I have in sufficient amounts to play around with. So far I have not managed to successfully Vaal any of my uniques. I've bricked quite a few, or got no result, but never anything good. So now I only Vaal a unique if I have multiple copies, or they are not top end uniques. |

The item has a specific modifier, which can roll within a specific range. The divine orb re-rolls the value of that modifier, because that's what it says it will do. It cannot, and does not claim to, replace that modifier with a different modifier that happens to affect the same stats but with a different range. That would a) be confusing, and b) prevent the intended use of the divine orb (perfecting items once you've got the correct modifiers on them - no-one would attempt this if it could replace their "Merciless" mod with a "Serrated" mod, rather than re-rolling the values of the mod it has).

If you know how the game's itemization works, the divine orbs functionality is clear, and their intentional functionality obvious: Look up whatever modifiers correspond to your current values out of game or use the iteminfo AHK script to try to identify them as the game doesn't provide the information needed to make an informed decision with regards to using this item, notice if there's room for improvement, and go from there.. :D
Aybody NOT knowing that, and going by the tooltip, "Randomises the numeric values of the random properties on an item", would reasonably expect the "numeric values of the random properties" to refer to the numeric values for the random properties they see listed, e.g. "fire resistance", "cold resistance", and "evasion rating" rather than the numeric values for some properties they don't see listed and may not know the existence of, but which they are derived from, such as "of the Kiln (24-29)", "of Haast (46-48)", and "Fleet (61-138)". (Or make the example even more awful by taking one of those where you get e.g. x% increased evasion rating and y% increased stun recovery on an item, and this can be caused by either one, two or three individual tiered modifiers. Regardless, all the player will ever see in the interface are the derived properties x% increased evasion rating and y% increased stun recovery.) The current divine orb text manages to be both a) absolutely clear for anybody who already knows how it works, and b) misleading for anybody who both 1) doesn't know how it works, and 2) relies on the information presented to him by the game, which is unfortunate. Contrast the current: "Randomizes the numeric values of the random properties on an item" tooltip with the silly but more informative: "Randomizes the numeric values of the random tiered modifiers on an item, that the properties you see on the item are derived from. If you are in doubt what that means, consult the wiki." Okay, the latter is a mouthful, but it is informative. Sort of. :p Now, what would be close to ideal would be for an extended item tooltip in-game that listed the current modifiers on an item and its range. E.g. on body armour, 25% fire resistance 47% cold resistance 100 evasion rating would get the extended tooltip headed Modifiers: 25 of the Kiln (24-29): fire resistance, suffix 47 of Haast (46-48): cold resistance, suffix 100 Fleet (61-138): evasion rating, prefix (With two lines for each modifier that has two effects.) ....which admittedly would be a lot of work to deal with a truly minor issue of an uninformative tooltip on divine orbs, but as a bonus from going to the trouble of doing so it would help everybody in trading and crafting situations by eliminating the "does this item have 5 or 6 affixes already?" and "how many free prefixes and suffixes does this item currently use?"
