[outdated] King of the Forest (Crit version)

@OP, so what are your thoughts on how this build is going to be in 2.5?

There seem to be hardly any legit archer/bow build guides around that can clear all end-game bosses. I've been out of the loop for so long, do you think this is a good budget build for old players coming back?

This has been my issue with the Raider changes as well. No doubt the class will be stronger, but the hardest content in the game are the bosses. Sure Onslaught will help with map clear speed but is this build slow in maps right now? Absolutely not.

In my limited experience with this build, the only thing that slows it down is some of the T13+ map bosses with annoying map mods on top (Phys Reduction, Enfeeble, etc). Onslaught on kill will not help that. Losing Toxic Delivery will make it even worse.

That said, Frenzy Charge generation is definitely a nice QoL change - not needing to use Frenzy during boss fights would be nice. So I'm interested to see what OP has to say.
i've tried this with raider and some end game bis gear for that build. uber izaro fight went from few seconds with assasin to 1+ min with raider. New buffs wont give almost any damage so boss fights gonna be a pain. But maybe im doing something wrong :P

Have the same feeling, Assassin still the best if you wanna do high end content. But i'll try some more defensive set up for HC Breach with more life nodes and, maybe, lightning coil + purity of lightning instead of AA (with AA if you get leveled enlightened late on)

Assassin is probably better... but Raider is incredibly good now. Especially with perm Onslaught and huge Frenzy generation. Being able to skip frenzy/blood rage is pretty nice for quality of life, especially with Vaal Pact if you go that route.

I made a quick tree with what I think would be ideal for Raider using this build. If you still want maximum firepower.

Much easier to sustain Snakebites if you still want to poison with them, though without Assassin poison isn't as OP as before, so you could potentially remove poison from the build for other uniques. That, however, I'm not sure is worth it. I'd have to test.

Darkray Vectors for even more movespeed are an option in this instance, for just the craziest movement speed possible, heh. 9 frenzy charges without corruptions.

I might try this out in Breach as a second character.

Worms will always have their place. Also, Vaal Breach can be useful in this situation. Most bosses have adds. The very few that don't can be fixed by Worms/Vaal Breach/etc.

Any suggestions on applying curse without CoH snakebite? Those gloves are a bit too expensive for me (the cheapest on poetrade are around 14 ex). Since this build is long-ranged most of the time, I don't think witchfire brew is efficient. I'm thinking about using frenzy-chain/pierce-CoH-Vulnerability, but it would be tedious to play when mapping.

EDIT: I came up with another much cheaper option without losing the QoL:
Buy a 6L RoTC and use poison gem as the 6th link in LA setup, get a pair of Rare vulnerability-on-hit gloves instead of snakebite for mapping. For bosses swap in a pair of normal snakebite (which are dirt cheap) and use frenzy-coh-vulnerability setup since we are using frenzy for charge generation anyway.

Or maybe void manipulation is better than vulnerability on mapping so I don't even need the rare corrupted gloves? Or maybe I don't need either of those on mapping and still can one-shot packs up to T16?

nice build, but get over 90% accuracy is fucking nightmare...I self crafted jewellery from envy almost broke me this, but not fucking single +accuracy on it. needed drop amulet
no open suffix to get accuracy on it for hinekora what solved my problem but...
I got 92% chance to hit with ice golem up, and I dont know how u get to 92% with only +643 to accuracy

hey guys, very short update for 2.5:

nothing really changed :D the only nerf is towards decoy totem. I cant really tell if its a bad nerf or not, but i provide you with a solution:

Should decoy totem feel useless to you, try using "mirror arrow" ! It basicly is an awesome distraction aswell, which you can combine with blink arrow too. Mirror arrow clones are kinda tanky even with no links, are cheap and fast to "cast" and are a great distraction.

I will play this build again in breach league. I am too familiar with it to do anything else. I plan to post a detailed log of my personal gear/tree progression for every 10 levels during leveling, and every major upgrade from lvl80ish on, so you have a nice comparison. I will post a link to this here as soon as I have started it (expect it saturday morning).

Anything else you would like to see in the guide? Let me know and good luck !


About the raider: I have my doubts now actually. Assassin is wayyyy too good for this build. Raider would end up having the highest movespeed, i.e. the highest clearspeed, but without all the sweet assassin perks, you end up doing 50% of single target damage that an assassin could do.




(On a side note: I had the chance to test the marauder version of this build vs. the shaper , and vs. chimera. both fights were very comfortable to do. However I have quite good gear (6L barrage, 6th link was faster attacks), and recently equipped a +2barrage helmet and a dying sun. These items are kinda mandatory if you want to be able to do shaper/guardians/uber atziri comfortably. Its doable with less, but those items are a great help.)

i think this build is far superior to both neversinks and ziggys build, in both offense and defense. much higher life, much higher clearspeed, and much higher single target thanks to op double dipping poison

I tink "experimenters quicksilver of adrenaline" already was the best choice. but its kinda hard to get the perfect flask with that many possible affixes, so i just stopped alting after hitting a good prefix (surgeon, experimenter, ample, perpetual) of adrenaline. it doesnt really matter though.

looks like it, yeah. It can get pretty expensive if you want to max it out (+2barrage helmet will be verryyyy expensive) but its a nice goal to farm towards, and I havent seen alot good archer builds elsewhere.

just use a witchfire brew flask if you dont have the gloves. you can also replace arctic armour with blasphemy+curse. enfeeble, temp chains, or vuln are all great choices

hitting high accuracy is not that big of a goal for an archer. Since we dont use multistrike. 87-90% is completely fine imo, so dont stress yourself too much. You can also try to see if you can get jewels with %accuracy, or spec into 2-3 accuracy points on the tree.
