Have you ever considered Loris Lantern for the LL Version? It´s decent damage Midigation.. gotta do the maths but its most likely 10-15% less overall damage taken on average. Also gives some good allres,chaos res and movement speed. further its a cheap unique ring so you can target corrupt anything usefull on it like bleed immunity, ignite immunity or aura effect.

A quick question about the Bane version. I want to gear towards it but I gave it a try and found that I didn't have enough ES/life recovery while mapping without Contagion. Should I equip Contagion for mapping or does the recovery come from somewhere else?

bane setup it can for endgame boss
if u have something bad just add contagion in slot arcana when u are mapping

One question though, what is your current aura/curse setup?

Leveling an occultist to try this out, just around level 36. What's the rotation for these spells since duration is a few seconds a piece. Mostly just use bane except for bosses?

It seems like the items have dropped off out of the early gear recommendations and the leveling item recommendations. This would have only happened sometime in the last couple of weeks.
