Yeah, could be a good variant. U would need to test for urself, how the drawback of the jewel feels and if it's worth it. May also just use the amulet without the jewel.
Just wondering, Why dont you use essence worm+anger for something like your firestorm version? Im going to go selfcast volatile dead using this build and plan on using Essence worm+ anger. Any reason not to?

1 ring i needed for dex. And then i found my other ring to be better all round ring. At start, before u can get good opal rings, that is for sure a very good option.
So this is my build atm and I have no idea but I feel like my damage are just non-existant. Maybe I'm too used to faster builds ? I tried a T6 aswell, got absolutely destroyed by the boss. I guess I'm not tanky enough for that kind of map either X_x. Since I died many times already, maybe I'm trying to go too quickly.
I did some dailies rotations and in lvl5 zana maps, I was doing nothing. Even against white monsters. Legit ? (We were 6 in group)
I have 4100 hp and 2511 unreserved mana (2725 total) and I still have to go take hp and around 40%+ mana in the tree.
What ya' think ?
Edit : Forgot to link flasks. I have the same as your setup, except for the basalt. Still have my quicksilver :x

soooo with the change to VD, how viable should we consider the 3.1 variant with Poet's Pen?
Should still be very good, but hopefully more budget friendly.

Gear wise u should have no problem. Dunno what ur tree looks like. U may consider getting a dmg weapon for now. Swap to brightbeak later, when u get gems lvled up and/or 6L.
Just hit level 91 yesterday, leveled very fast since I'm not playing a lot right now, died a very few times in total and having a blast with this build.
I could complete many red corrupted maps and some corrupted tier 15 deathless, in some of those me and another guy had to carry the other 4 people laying dead inside.
No problems with elder at all and farming uber lab (still unlucky with enchantments).
I see that my gear still has a lot of improvements to do, I'll wait for the prices to drop.
Just want to ask some questions:
- I'm not using blood rage since you recommended to leave it out, but sometimes I'm having hard times sustaining my mana no matter what, if I get too much aggro then my mana is lost for the whole duration of the fight. I actually have like 150 mana regen per second, 180 with arcane surge; how much flat mana and mana regeneration should I have before I can rely on the blood rage + arakaali combo?
- can a shield like this be any good for the build?
or should I just stick to a rathpith and an amulet with some spell damage, life and mana regen?
- how much dps should I have to complete the guardians/shaper/uber atziri/vaal temple? (my actual dps is near 22k
- would a body armour with +1 level to socketed active skill gems, life and resistances be a good alternative to Belly/Defiance, losing a bit of tankiness to boost the dps?
- should I take third upgrade from araakali (+25 chaos res from ot damage) before using the Forbidden taste?

If you are having mana issues why not go for a shield with %mana gained on block? Just then getting aggro tends to refill your mana for you.
