Slivertongue Bleed/Poison Assassin

Something I'm doing at the moment is getting 40% poison chance from the tree, which together with snakebite gives 100% poison chance even without the bleed. This way I can apply bleed and poison with a single shot and is usually enough to kill most trash. A couple of the poison nodes give chance to bleed as well, which is why I am considering dropping Slivertongue, but only if I get enough currency for what would probably be ~10ex rare bow.

It looks like you went for the Perfect Agony notable quite early. Since this is my first character in Harbinger league I avoided taking anything to do with crit until much later in the build, since I couldn't guarantee having a bow with crit chance on it and wasn't going to take the 30% less damage with hits debuff for practically no extra damage. Generally I find getting crit early can be quite difficult, but it looks like you have some gear with crit on it and doomfletch so you're probably doing fine.

Oh and I actually came across a strange barrel whilst levelling, which dropped snakebite! probably the first time I have actually had a unique drop that I needed for my character.

I've looked at the POB and have a couple of questions.

Why do you take avatar of the eagle? It gives 20% (+6%) damage and 20% accuracy, but the nodes on the way don't give you much. For 1 extra point you could take Avatar of the Hunt instead, which will give 24% (+20% from smaller nodes) increased damage. Either way it's probably better to get the jewel slot on the RHS of the tree than one of these notables.

I've compared the duelist and ranger start areas and there doesn't seem to be much difference between them. I think I might actually prefer the ranger start due to the stun avoidance (at the expense of attack speed from duelist start)

I also think frenzy charges are great in this build. For me, because I'm using frenzy as the main skill (and snakebite) I get:

4% more damage (for both bleed and poison)
5% increased physical damage
11% attack speed
6% increased accuracy

per frenzy charge, each of which costs just 2 passive points.


That is true if you use Frenzy, yes. Also, for 2 points you get an extra charge and 4% evasion per charge, equaling to 16% with at least 4. But what I do not want to do is keep trying to actively maintain my charges up. I have not found any way to passively generate frenzy charges, except for Poacher's Mark and that would only be viable for map clear. On bosses, sure, Frenzy is not a bad option, but as I said I am still leveling so I have at least 30 more levels to go :). If on the way I feel like I need the charges, I can always switch back to Snakebite/Frenzy.

I have only played melee characters to high-tier maps and bow/evasion characters are still new to me, so I am definitely missing something, but I like to learn on the way. As I said, I can always switch back, but the main reason I put in Embalmers, is they give more DoT and they also have a good chunk of HP. I was also considering using Decay Support in my links, so that would combo nicely with those gloves.

As for Avatar of the Hunt - you are right. It gives more DPS, so I will drop Avatar of the Eagle.

Nvm, I was wrong - Snakebite are amazing. I found a good rare bow for lvling and am now using SB and my main skill is Puncture with Pierce and ailment dmg supports. Mobs suddenly started to melt :). While leveling I also threw in a Vaal Rain of arrows for reliable AOE poison and a chance for bleed.

Nice, I think drillneck is a really good choice too - at least for my build. Thanks for the idea. The only problem is, having so many uniques is going to put a lot of strain on the jewellery slots.

I'm saving up for Yriel's, but it looks like Mathil just made a build with it and the prices keep going up!
Yeah, turns out that Drillneck actually gives more dps than one crafted quiver I had prepared. So far the build is going well. I have insane defense layers - 80% evade chance with flasks, 40% attack/30% spell dodge and CWDT Enfeeble and I can stand in one place longer than I should. What I regret is Buying the Jewelers Touch AFTER i 6s my Yriel`s.. So i had to 5l my bow for the main skill. Blew 250 fusings on the chest - not even a 5l. Oh well...

I also considered buying Rigwald`s for the free fork, but the proj dmg does jack all for this build, so its not worth 80c just for the fork, IMO. I wanna utilize the full bonuses of Sliver, but for the life of me (aside from using Chain and/or Fork in the gem links, which is probably terrible) I cant figure out how.

On another note: Maligaro`s gloves give more DoT dmg for me because of the crit stats/IAS. It is like a 3k+ bleed dps, but they don`t have life, and this build is already strapped for it.

I have some more thoughts on this build.

I tried using temp chains corruption on gloves for more boss damage but bosses have a lot of curse resistance so this doesn't work so well. I decided instead to use vulnerability for better trash clear.

For helm enchant, I think one of vuln curse effect, ice golem buff effect or 2 additional barrage proj. I went for curse effect because its the cheapest.

Against bosses I am using a siege ballista since that has high damage effectiveness (for bleeds), but I'm not sure it is worth it. I switch frenzy for barrage. Barrage with poison does insane damage to bosses, but in order to keep my poison chance up I have to maintain my frenzy charges, which I do with frenzy-gmp-faster attacks-PCOC. I also have to keep bestial ursa alive for 100% bleed chance. All this requires a lot of concentration, and whilst I have enough damage, I find it difficult to dodge all the boss effects whilst thinking about all these things. I am wondering if it is simpler to get the 60% poison from the tree after all. In that case I would probably switch Snakebite for Embalmers, but for some reason vuln curse effect corruption is very expensive. I also lose the more damage, accuracy and attack speed from having frenzy charges.

I tried to socket a lvl 19 CWDT into the chest, but summon bestial ursa was not supported (maybe needs lvl 20). Still, I am using CWDT-Ice Golem-Minion Life-Firestorm-Blind. So Ursa is at least supported by blind and minion life and so stays alive longer. Also my minions can now blind which is nice.
