You guys ever going to make another chaser unique?
" True. Some narcissistic people just have a problem to accept that other people play a game with choices differentley than they do. The same narcissitic people take the unjustified right to say that their opinion is correct by insulting everyone else who dont share their opinion. That being said. PoE is in desperate need of chase uniques. Skyforth was OP compared to the options life had when ES had instant leech god mode but it also was a very interesting item to chase for - play the end game maps and hoping for a 40 ex drop which gives people a reason to do endgame maps. Now Skyforth is around what 8 ex? Only thing left is Headhunter and it doesnt do anything build defining in my opinion other than making the game look like a hackfest. Id like to see some more items which are very hard to get but have the potential to be very powerful or/and build enabling for endgame builds. This is what makes the game interesting for longterm players. I think this is especially true since we have a life meta right now and the build diversity in 3.0 is veeeery low. " True. Some narcissistic people also only can enjoy the game if they can have something others can't have. " True. " Seems like you are one of them. Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

" This game isnt tailored for communism ideology, sorry. " I shared my opinion without saying like a prick that everyone who dont agree has low selfesteem/no skill or whatsoever. If you dont like my opinion feel free to disagree but bring some examples to the table why you think so and dont be a prick like sid. |

" Well they could re-associate various div cards in this upcoming expansion, but I'm not too sure they would. I know they aren't going to restrict various cards to only difficult monsters, the whole idea of diviners boxes is to reward players for overcoming a mediocre challenge at best. I REALLY hope this next expansion is amazing and addresses the speed of the game a little further, maybe then I can return to poe as it should be, instead of whatever people want to call what we have now. " Or its people that think that those that work towards a goal should be able to get it, instead of lowering the bar to the least common denominator. D3 does that, if you want that sort of hand me shit. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285
FeelsBadMan Remove MF from POE, make juiced map the new MF. |

I think part of the problem is that, for the past year or so, (or a bit longer, since Ascendancy came out, really) the game's settled into a meta rut it can't actually seem to get out of. The degree of power creep has gotten obscenely out of control, to the point where players are de facto punished (because they can't keep up with map bosses with ever-more millions of HP) for not playing along with it.
That's WHY Headhunter is rather alone at the top; the only reason it's below 100 ex on Harbinger is because that's the the only thing anyone's bothering to farm; they're either running double-breached shaped Spider Forest for cards, or grabbing a Wurm's molt, hundreds of Ancient Orbs, and popping into a Nemesis map. (though my experience has shown the Zana mod isn't necessary, but for 5c when you only need bring one belt, I can understand people erring on the side of caution anyway) Headhunter is unique in that the wide range of builds can use it, and it unquestionably pushes a player's clear speed from "great" to "obscene." Couple it with Rampage, and it's not that hard to hit multi-million DPS, and clear even the nastiest of maps in a couple of minutes. The above might technically not be a cure-all solution for every part of the game... Except that with how it's currently balanced... You don't bother looting rare items, or most items at all; over 99% of drops can be safely filtered out, so stopping to examine things or portal back due to inventory space isn't ever an issue. Once you figure that part out, HH is a perfect fit, as are the most common type of builds, that are all low-effort/time investment for killing huge packs of mobs; flicker strike's the only namelocking skill that ever sees much use, and for obvious reason: the entire meta is around a build that lets you move as you destroy everything, or alternatively, lets you annihilate several screens' worth of enemies in a single click. Since this hasn't shifted, there's not really been much room for a new "chase" or STRONG build-enabling unique. It's perhaps been more of the reason why Mjölner's fallen out of favor more than just the nerfs. (notice that even Cospri's doesn't see much use either!) Make no mistake, we've gotten what SHOULD have been some really powerful items with a good potential to be broken when tweaked; stuff like Repentance and The Baron come to mind. Even then, though... None of them really came close to the tier of older big-ticket items, even like (pre-3.0) Shavs or Kaom's. Simply put... We're no longer allowing for new metas. The obscene-speed meta (generally built around a Berserker or Pathfinder) is so encoded into the game, that it'd take a LOT of work at balance before there's ever room for anything else to be significant again. " Why should GGG reward it's players so much for "overcoming a mediocre challenge at best"??? Ideally, your chance at a "golden ticket" should be a lot better when playing the game, then you should have chancing that "golden ticket" as an option and trading as a failsafe... Right now, there is no incentive to play and acquire that chase item by your own, and you're a lot more rewarded for not taking risks... Speed meta aside, if there would be better balance and no "opie-op" options, but some more useful in various situations while others would trump them in other aspects, you would reach truer diversity than the current husk of one... So, yes, best rewards should come due to the player overcoming a challenge, and that would keep players playing and not be some mindless hamsters running in a grinding for an eternity wheel... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...
Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... |

" there is no best practise, hiding chase uniques behind challenges makes them impossible to get for people with less skill and/or less playtime while kiddos with unlimited time and the ability to just copy streamer builds get them without a greater challenge. making them randomly drop or chanceable gives normal players an option to turn the wheel of fortune and makes them happy supporters but disappoints nolifers cause they don't feel really rewarded for the time they put into the game. it's ok as it currently is, hide them behind challenges but also make them chanceable. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

problem with chase uniques is more complex than some 'i want to be better than others because i can waste time in a video game' want to think
1) leagues last for 3-4 months 2) how many builds people make during said leagues? 1? (and chase to 100) 2-3? 10? pick one of these and answer your question: 3) how many 'chase' uniques your builds need per league? 4) what are (some)players doing nowadays? zoom-zoom-zoom no brain T10 shaped-whatever Bisco's clear builds. what that means? 5) uniques are raining from the sky by thousands yet there are simply not enough characters to wear them (the increase in unique numbers alone is to blame - number of characters we play/month is stable, number of uniques grows each patch) what that leaves us with? oversupply of uniques that players simply do not need. player playing one build to 100 drops Soul Taker, Shavs and Starforge. There is 0 chance he will use more than one of these. true problem, the root reason that chase uniqes are so scarce and pretty much everything else can be bought for < 10ex is IDIOTIC CLEAR SPEED META we are in cut the clear speed of meta builds in half (and it is still obscene) and suddenly your shavs will go for 40ex again. but you guys would not like that. btw - want a 'chase'? get yourself your enchant on your helmet of choice - not on generic base or Devotos, but try to find Magma Orb uber chain enchant on The Gull. chase enough? but but you are not happy? oh why? because you cannot simply buy it and have to work for it yourself? tough bunch to make happy you are.. chase - but let me buy it. cheating in video games (like playing T0 meta idiotic build with 600% clearspeed over anything else + excesive trade) kills games for players in the long run. you should have though about consequences before you started doing that. Chase uniques do exist, they just aren't expensive. Kaom's heart is still a chase item despite being "Affordable" for the hardcore crowd.
If you want a combination of ultra rare, ultra expensive and ultra difficult to acquire by normal means for an extreme end-game player then another one probably wouldn't exist anymore. |
