Keep Exalt Shards, Vendor 5L for 1 Shard

Ever get that 5L drop? Ever get bummed that new 5l you found is worthless?

Well now you can get an exalt shard! That's right! When you vendor at your local Master!

It's worth just about the same when pricing on POE trade so it fits perfectly.

Anyone else for the dream?

5L should have a vendor recipe, I agree. I'd go for a few fuses, though...

Except a shard is worth around 5 chaos and white 5L items are worth nowhere near that much. 5-Linked uniques I could agree on. Vendoring 5-Links instead of not even picking them up if they're not top bases also seems like a nice idea in general, it's just that an exalt shard is worth way more.

I am 100% in favor of having 5l's worth something vendor wise, We need more vendor recipies to make picking stuff up worthwhile. The solution to the exalt shard pricing dilema is to make it 2 or 3 5l's need to be vendored as a set for exalt shard. Similar to how chance and alch orb recipies work. Also make the rarity play a factor.

Example: numbers could easily be tweaked
3 rare 5l armors = 1 exalted shard (Additional alch sink here)
3 unique 5l armors = 2 exalted shards

3 rare 5l weapons = 2 exalted shards
3 unique 5l weapons = 3 exalted shards

Not only would adding this make a 5l drop not feel like nothing more than an armor scrap once you get your first one it would add a way to add a ceiling to the price of exalts to stop the horrid flipper driven market, ya know when prices change by 20c over a few hours per exalts because ppl list fake ones?

By making it require multiple copies of the item to get the reward it stays inside gggs model of must use stash space for this stuff and not make it too easy.

Another good option would be to change the chaos/regal recipie to reward exalt shard(s) based on turning in a full armor/weapon set with 1 or 2 pieces being 5l.

I definitely think that 5l should have a vendor price, but for me it is reallistic for the price to be 1-3 fuses.

... just like 7 jewellers are worth much more than a white 6socket item. That's what vendor recipes are about.

5links are much more rare than 6sockets (and intrinsically more useful), so if they introduce a vendor recipe, it should give more (like 3-5 fuses, exalt shard is fine with me too) if you ask me.

1 ex shard or ~5 fuses, all fine by me. There should be a 5L recipe definitely.

Great idea, and I would enjoy a set recipe that would do bring Exalt shards, either via multiple 5L vendored, or via complete sets of equipment (with one or two 5L) of at least ilvl 80, which would demote chaos recipe to ilvl 60 as minimum, regals to ilvl 70, and Ex shards at ilvl 80 and higher...

Exactly, this was my idea here. When I try and sell a 5l on the market it can usually range from 3-15c depending if it has a decent roll or not.

I think one exalt shard is a very fitting price for a 5 link. Sometimes exalts fluctuate around 70c making the shards worth about 4c each.

I think it would introduce a new price fix on 5 links that wouldn't be game breaking. It would make them more interesting, much like divines hold the value of a 6L.

5 links are quite rare when they drop.

Also, to get a 5 link with a fuse it can take a while, so it can't be abused with fuses.

A set of 5 links wouldn't be bad either. I just think exalt shards don't have to leave with Harbinger & can be used in a new vendor recipe. With that said, it would make the 5L more exciting when one drops.

I don't think 5 links should have a vendor price associated with them. Technically they might be rare when they drop, but your forgetting that the other vendor recipes are complete products.


For example a 6 link is "completely linked", sells for a divine.

A chromatic orb is 3 linked together r\b\g


The only way a 5 link is "completed" is if its only 5 sockets, which is even more rare as a drop, which is honestly the only one that doesn't give you something worth picking it up. A 6 socket 5 link still gives you the 7 jews its worth.

People have this odd obsession with 5 links needing to be worth more then they are. To me its the perfect market item, if you find one on a good base or early on, you use or sell it, if you find it later its pretty much worthless.

I also don't think its a wise idea to make any vendor recipe for exalted shards at this point.
