Is poet's pen nerf perhaps not necessary?

So i'm running poet's pen, some fun piece of gear. Triggering speed seems fine; nothing like the old broken CoC. Damage is decent, thanks to the + to skill levels. It doesn't even lag that much with all the effects (for me at least).

Now volatile dead will clear extremely well, but is also only decently good vs. single target. Now I'm just running a regular lvl 19 (well, it was lvl 20 before), and no lvl 21 and not using an enchant, how OP that is remains for me to see.

Would be a shame to destroy a fun piece of levelling (AND endgame gear). I hope GGG will find a good solution if they deem the volatile + poet is too strong. Maybe just change the extra balls enchant to something else? Another more drastic solution would be to limit the triggering to just the mainhand, this would preserve it's power but keep the volatile combo in check. Lazily destroying poet's by like doubling the cooldown will just make it another junk occurence... like CoC is now D: We need some fun stuff in this game in the mindless grind.

It's really not that powerful, no need to nerf it.

Why is it so difficult for them to see
that, without poetry, their lives are effluvial.

Sure, they have their banquets, their celebrations,
croquet, fox hunts, their sea shores and sunsets,
their cocktails on the balcony, dog races,
and all that kissing and hugging, and don't
forget the good deeds, the charity work,
nursing the baby squirrels all through the night,
filling the birdfeeders all winter,
helping the stranger change her tire.

Still, there's that disagreeable exhalation
from decaying matter, subtle but everpresent.

They walk around erect like champions.

They are smooth-spoken and witty.

When alone, rare occasion, they stare
into the mirror for hours, bewildered.

There was something they meant to say, but didn't:
"And if we put the statue of the rhinoceros
next to the tweezers, and walk around the room three times,
learn to yodel, shave our heads, call
our ancestors back from the dead--"
poetrywise it's still a bust, bankrupt.

You haven't scribbled a syllable of it.

I know right, there are far better stuff for rofl-stomping bosses (and with almost as good map clear), like any type of wander (with 1c piscatore OMEGALUL), or Glacial cascade.

Well i'm prepared for nerf, but I'm hoping it will remain alive for some more time.

Cooldown will be put on the Pen's ability instead of the usual trigger cooldown, thus making it global and two Pens are not worth using while setting a single skill in for triggering will be more effective than having two due to the switching of the skill being triggered taking a whole cooldown each.

Nerf'd enough?

Poets pen dosnt need a nerf anymore than anything else...

Except for 1 small problem.

Its to hard on their dogshit engine.

Instead of toning down the big red balls they will destroy a perfectly good and very fun item.

Meh, just make it rarer. As leveling item it's too strong - any build can use it with 0 investment in damage and clear premaps content with 0 problems.

It definitely helps the leveling process, but it isn't the best build late game.

Recently having died on my level 92 Ascendant Poet's Pen VD in HC.... I can tell you, it fizzles out later on. The only gear I was missing was Atziri's Gloves, which while providing more crit chance, wasn't going to make THAT much of a difference.

It's good, it's fun... it won't be found, or if it is - it won't be traded, early on in leagues. It's a 2nd char item.

And as a late game build, it's not as powerful as other setups.

Edit: At least, not as powerful on Hardcore where you have to spend points on other things... Softcore, I could see it being a problem.
