Thats why Tooltips in this game are almost useless. Same thing is happening here your adding damage to a skill that it doesnt work for but the tooltip is still figureing it in as if it was added to its "On Hit" Tooltip.

You can also witness this with ED by adding Added Chaos to its links... The on hit tooltip will show an increase yet you gain nothing by way if its DOT portion. In the case of ED it does in fact add damage to the initial hit but again we also know this does nothing for the DOT portion of the skill regardless of the initial hit.
