No, they are supposed to be a chase thing, as in it's something you work to but don't actually need and it is absolutely fine as it is.
You can't even claim that it's for "high end users" because even filthy casuals can get them with just a little bit of effort and farming.

You have the master craft, use it, especially if you can't deal with gambling and loosing.

The little effort you are talking about is so rng, that you even can have huge efforts with no result. If you would have talked about, everyone can go trade site and buy the item after he grinded long enough to have the currency.
Well this is not what I mean, because without trade, how long will it take for casual players and their 2-3 hours a day at max, to actually find, yes grind, loot, have drop by their own? Is the league long enough? So your little effort is just a cheap shortcut way to get the item by trade and not by playing.
And about the need or no need about a 6link item, there are builds it may be different, but for a lot of builds it is a very essentiel big boost to have 6link instead of 5link.
And the masters, really? Just for some laughing, have you ever tried to craft a real good item and to do this just by your own currency? Not to go trade and buy 1000 fuses, chromes etc doing it with the found orbs? Let me smile.

I wish they didn't add so many "more damage" supports to the game. That way, we could ask for easier access to 6L without immediately getting "it would make the game too easy" responses. Because the 6th link would be about additional utility instead of 'yet another damage multiplier'.

Seems like they "power creep"ed themselves us into a corner with this one.

And this old horse over and over again. Six link items are for "people". I got my first 6 l armor on league day 2. It was simple, I purchased corrupted one from trade, for 30c as I remember. So no problem really, every casual can afford that. And if we are talking about "starforge, voidforge, Atziri's Disfavour or some endgame rare/unique armors, then sorry, but "people" will not get them anyway, as they have to defeat Shaper/Uber Atz or do some T16 first, which "casual players" do not in most cases. To purchase 1500 fusings or to buy "Fated connections" prophecy. In most cases fusings are cheaper option.
