A few questions (as I'm levelling).

1) Why Elemental Overload early in the tree? It seems to very rarely proc since our crit chance is so low. Looking at the whole tree there is little crit chance ... so not really sure why take it (so early).

2) Any good levelling uniques? I guess anything that grants Mana back would be a great help.

3) Definitely very squishy 30-50 range - died quite a few times to single hits. I've rubbish gear, but the problem seems to me that it takes a while to get the Magma cast, and in that time fast mobs run past/through where the first balls land, and so they get a couple of hits on you before you can cast again (right at your character, so the balls hit. Any way round this? Wands with faster casting?

4) Levelling gems. When to people start using multiple heralds? I'm only running one (level 55) cause I need the mana to sustain Magma (although I am running 6 gems in a Tabula rasa).

Here's my experience; I'm not an expert:

With regards to leveling, I only ran with herald of ash. I played around with clarity at low levels, but eventually dropped it in favor of mana regen nodes. I also like using Singularity in combination with a wither totem. Make sure you're using Spell Echo. Cast speed should not be an issue. You can pretty much hold down the magma orb key for a long while and let loose with a stream of orbs all over the screen. Kinda fun to do in Delve.

With regards to EO, I wasn't using controlled destruction. And I added some crit nodes to improve the chances of it being up. From what I've read, the crit chance is based off a single press of the key when you cast the spell. It's not independent per projectile. So I was having issues with it being down too much. This is an area I'm taking a closer look at (what is optimal).

Now starting about 80, I began having issues with squishiness too. My gear is pretty much trash though. My resists are max'd, but I need more life. I'm starting to readjust my paths and get rid of some of those mana regen nodes. I definitely had to pick-up MoM which helped a lot (I avoid it at low lvls). It's helping. But it gets annoying to get one-shot, bitch slapped out of the blue by some non-boss, especially when you're tearing things up.

Anyway, rather than a build that you follow an exact path, I think this is one of those you have the luxury of monkeying around with. Particularly in the 1-80 range.

I cannot run both Herald's + Clarity + Vaal Haste (Normal Haste). Is this normal or do I just not have enough mana?

You should not run normal Haste.

Not sure what this question has to do with this build but you want to use an attack skill to trigger the spell gems socketed in your poet's pen.

I'm wondering if you think I can use this magma orb setup on an outdated Firestorm passive tree I already have in place from a long while back. I used PewPewPews beginner Firestorm build, but Magma seems to be similar in that it is fire damage and AoE.

Your thoughts?
