[3.9] Gryph's CI Vortex + Coldsnap Trickster || Uber Elder+Everything Else
" afk in minotaur.....go for trickster!
Well.. hit 36/40 last night.. so pretty much done this season. Gear has some room for improvement, but it wasn't necessary to fully optimize it to get the wings.
I went a slightly different route than the OP - I wasn't sure that aul's and reflection were worth the added cost for what they give - about 50% more DPS total between pain attunement & malevolence, for the cost of 20+ EX. In the end, I went cheap - almost entirely self-crafted & self-found. I bought the helmet base with the vortex enchant and the 6L base for the body armor. Rings were initially bought to fix resists and would have been crafted if I cared enough to invest more time. Another departure was the usage of skitterbots with bone-chill linked. The pretty much guarantees that shock, chill and bonechill are on everything. Final stats : 11,750 ES and 2.1M dps (1.5M shaper DPS). I'm not sure that POB is calculating the shock correctly.. but things seem to die MUCH faster then past seasons occultist version. Speaking of which, compared to the occultist, this is much smoother. The ascendency removes all of the mana regen pressure and provides a ton of health sustain. It still kills every boss in the game, deathless, even when you screw up and take a shaper-slam. For blight, the vortexes and cold snap kill every lane quite easily by just dropping a damage puddle where they will path. Uniques take a few casts, but never really any danger. Here is the final gear and PoB for reference! https://pastebin.com/jUt8dpGq Последняя редакция: toxic678. Время: 15 окт. 2019 г., 11:52:50

@toxic678
Your character looks sweet! I haven't played the Vortexer this league yet (still running on my VD necro build and guide). And yeah there's no need to go for Reflection+Auls, but it's nice to have something to strive towards. That is, if you're like me and always looking to squeeze a little more out your characters. I am forever min-maxing, self crafting, and trying to add innovations to my characters. Skitterbots are an interesting choice and one I will definitely test out if/when I start this character this league. That said I'm not sure it's needed to add Bonechill to the bots as we apply the debuff with cold snap(I am really spammy with CS) already and at greater effectiveness. As for the shock, it's 26% Increased Damage taken after factoring in shock and ailment effects. PoB never calcs shock "correctly" as it automatically chooses 50% increased damage. I added it to a flask and it puts you at 1.36m Shaper DPS and 1.53m Shaper DPS if you have Frenzy Charges up. Also this number should be much higher with bonechill debuff (base value of 24% increased damage taken based on your current chill effect) Which is a total of 50% so having the shocked box ticked actually works. Lol Also, Malevolence Auls is only 4-5ex this league. Definitely worth the investment this league. Glad you enjoyed the build! :D Последняя редакция: Gryphenprey. Время: 9 окт. 2019 г., 10:16:30

@Gryphenprey
I think much of the difference is in playstyle. I rarely use cold-snap, except when it's a boss or something that I want to die quickly and stack both it and vortex on something. (Blight unique for example). I'm not fully sold on the bonechill for skitterbots either, but since I principally play by running through everything (THREE! sources of phasing in my build!) and dropping vortex, it seemed nice to make sure everything was shocked, chilled and bonechilled before I got there. I considered. but never quite got the the point of dropping coldsnap from the build entirely, but I could not think of anything to replace it with that would synergize well with vortex. Maybe artic breath, but didn't spend much time thinking about it. Past seasons I would have run blasphemy+enfeeble and think I definitely prefer skiterbots/bonechill over that. Didn't realize Aul's was so affordable - I'm (5) league now.. still not even seen Aul - despite spending over 400k sulphite this season in my own mine. (I did buy someone elses to get the achievement and killed it quite easily with this build!) I did look to buy a relfection, but couldn't find someone who wasn't a scammer - was offered mirrors by the first 6 people I tried to trade with.. so said F it and bought a weapon for a necromancer to fool around with. I used most of the currency I found to fund my second character - baron necromancer. Still prefer the survivability and general power of the trickster vortex/CS overall.
Yeah my style has always been to Shield charge and cast cold snap on the mobs further away from me and vortex to the pack I charged into. Cooldown on Vortex and smaller AOE makes it a lot less appealing for clearing for me. But yeah, definitely a play style difference as Cold Snap has always been my trash clearing skill.
Honestly I would just make my own Reflection as it tends to be cheaper anyways (buy beauty through death cards for prophecy). I like to make a spacey one by chancing a shaped golden buckler (make it 30% quality first of course) into a mirror and using the prophecy. Did this for the fun of it the other day. I will probably upgrade it eventually. Or sell it as is if someone wants it badly enough. hahaha |

your pob still using older tree.....

" That's because it specifically say that it's from my legion Trickster :) I haven't actually run this build yet this league as I am happily destroying the game with my other build still. I have the passive trees updated for 3.8, they haven't changed much from Legion so it's no biggie. |

Any thoughts on a pure life version of this build?

" WFor the first time ever (5 leagues now, including delve) I finally found an Aul (was so excited I forgot to record it) and he dropped the good amulet, so I followed your advice and looked into it. Coupled it with a good Watchers Eye and picked up about 500k DPS and another 400 ES. Of course that also means I have my old-amulet that I have to sell now - not entirely sure how to price it! Now I just need to find a way to get grace in the build, but that will probably require dropping skitterbots or spider and getting some more mana reservation nodes. I'm not sure if the added blind will be worth it, since the build already has plenty of defense. Also been grabbing a few vids to show things that have been asked in the thread - specifically about how it performs in blighted maps. The delve video is just to show the power of the watchers eye discipline affix with storm-brand and orb-of storms. I haven't tried to see how high I can push the darkness stacks, but I think it gets to 40+ in the initial trial. Here are some vids just for fun: I'll add more as I run into interesting things.
