Nerfs don't look too bad overall. MS and life are the two big things GGG hit hard.

Feeding Frenzy will still be great I think - the built in aggressive AI alone is better than anything pre 3.8. That support was so overpowered, even in its gutted state it will be a winner.

I will personally be taking a few of the extra minion leech, life, and regen nodes on the tree. Probably more than enough to compensate survivability.

An overall 25%-35% nerf (supports/ascendancy included) sounds like a build killer but NOT IN THIS CASE!

This build will still be a winner!

Glad there are no build-breaking nerfs.

What about the potential buffs?!

Awakened Brutality Support
Awakened Generosity Support
Awakened Melee Physical Damage Support
Awakened Melee Splash Support
Awakened Multistrike Support
Awakened Blasphemy Support
Awakened Minion Damage Support!!!

And for ranged spectres:
Awakened Spell Echo Support
Awakened Controlled Destruction Support
Awakened Elemental Focus Support

Does that even take into account the new higher tier support gems that will be adding some new damage?

Let's take an example of how I currently run and I can run instead. These are ALL forms of extra DPS I can get:

Swap Multistrike for Awakened Multistrike
Swap Minion Speed/Minion Damage for Awakened Minion Damage
Swap Melee Physical Damage for Awakened Melee Physical Damage Support
Swap Brutality for Awakened Brutality
Swap Melee Splash for Awakened Melee Splash (if using skeletons)

Swap Enfeeble for Vulnerability
Swap Haste for Pride
Swap Flesh and Stone Sand Stance to Blood Stance

Swap Seven-League Steps for Alberon's Warpath (start strength stacking)
Swap Speed Belt/HH for Increased strength belt ((start strength stacking)
Swap Brawn jewel for a Lethal Pride (start strength stacking)
Swap Chaos Golem for Carrion Golem
Swap Minion Life for Empower Level 4 (boost spectres past 25 for extra spectre and also AG level)

Could even swap out 6L Auras in chest and go back to using 6L skeletons. Yes, we can actually use 6L Vaal Skeletons.

There are other gems we can throw into the mix like Pulverise which boosts our area damage, or even things like Meat Shield, or Damage on Full Life.

I haven't even touched the tree yet... but with 15,000eHP I can sacrifice some life/ES and put those nodes into things like GravePact, Enduring Bond, and Fearsome Force, among other things.

Not sure if I'm getting this right, but from a standard league perspective, I think it's actually a buff.

* upgrade to many support gems by swapping them to their awakened version
* get to keep multimodded mace (with maim support)
* Will be able to get some free passive with oils making their way to standard
* Fortify multiplicative buff (sinergy with Kingmaker from guardian?)
* Already plays as mistress of sacrifice so the nerf to commander of darkness doesn't really matter

We'll just have to see if zombies will need more life on hit now to compensate for their loss of hitpoints.

all and all, I'm optimistic that my standard necro will be as good as she is now with some tweaks.

I was keeping my eye on this build as I was hoping to run a fun necro build in 3.9. The patch notes looked like most everything got nerfed and I was (am) a little worried.

BUT most of you seem very positive that this build will still be awesome and be a great kill factory. I look forward to reading your new updates and thank you in advance !!!

Couldn't help myself now I'm lounging around in standard for a few days. Just had to take advantage of my currency that's just been sitting there for years.



Just crafted the Coronal Maul to replace my Dread Maul. Good to have a spare but I'm too chicken to Vaal one of them.

Very likely league starting with this build again. Hope the nerfs scare the people enough to make Necro item prices go down a bit ;)
