You would *assume* that if GGG intended it to work against LL builds and pass through ES, then they'd at least highlight the mod as a *very dangerous mod* considering it's insta-kill nature.

But I doubt they considered that and I doubt it's high on their "fix list" considering the poor state of 3.15 already and the tiny playerbase actively playing it. Pretty sure all their focus now is on 3.16 and we're merely in a waiting room.

You can do the mod if you toggle off your life reserve aura (toggle it off, portal to a town to be healed to full, go back).

You can also see which mods you've selected before and after you blow them by hovering your curser above the little expedition icon down in the bottom right side of your own screenshot.

Couple days ago done with 36 challenges and second time with Lightning Trap.
And ofc I want thanks so much @oestergreen for build and for help in posts and @Vennto for help too and give some hints to players. See Ya in 3.16 guys!

Hey there, thz for the build. I really love it!! from great clear speed to boss deleted damage XD. I've played this from 2leagues ago and remember how great it is and I'll try it again now. I just have a bit of a question on the shield.

Aside from recovering ES on the block is % to block spell damage mandatory or it's just there to save passive points?
The same question for Mana reservation, it's luxury just so you have more leftover mana for skill right?
Assuming that mods beside %es on the block are not mandatory, I'll choose a shield with as many es as possible and squeeze as many offensive mods as possible on it, that should be bis?


The blue Nightmare in the socket near Faith and Steel really helped me a lot -
To get my Spellblock to maximum, without using rumi's.
Just wanna share. I saw this by inspecting someone in this thread, forgot his nickname, sorry.

Want to say a thanks to Oestergreen for the build guide. I started the league with a Forbidden Rite totem and found it to squishy, then try the next meta of Spec Shield Throw and didnt like the damage. Then had a mirror div card pulled from a stacked deck and had 25ex to start a new build so went with this LightTrapper. Have really enjoyed it as it has good defense and damage to go along with it.

Here is my build currently, I'm lvl93, https://pastebin.com/3kJFkDya. If anyone gets a moment and point out any issues there might be or such, that would be valuable. Have slowly done incremental upgrades as get I currency. I think the next thing is to save towards a Bottled Faith flask.

Yw mate and thanks :)

If you hit %chance to block spells on your shield, you don't need a rumi's flask in most cases, so it'll save you a flask spot/potential swap with Bottled Faith and/or save you skill-points near arcane guarding in the skill-tree.

You can also bench craft 5% spellblock on your shield (10% with glancing).

Mana reservation is pure luxury. If you happen to get 10-15%, you might be able to remove one or two points from sovereignty (but that depends if your life can hold up your clarity still or if you can fit a lower clarity, as sovereignty nodes also affect your life reservations).

Other than this, the mana reservation would help you fit something like a precision aura for more crit% or other misc gems that could interact with Watcher's Eyes. So again, it's pure luxury and not needed. I haven't used a reservation shield in last 2 leagues.

Only mandatory mod is the ES-on-block with good ES tiers. :)
It's also a mod you can force onto a shield at the cost of 2 ex.

Very true, this jewel below. I'll include it as a mention in the guide.
It gives you +20 spellblock(with glancing) if you put it in the socket near faith and steel, so in a sense you're trading a chunk of DPS (as jewels are big sources of dps), but trading it for spellblock cap where you don't need rumi's. Depending on the jewels average price in leagues, it may be more useful early league and less so late, but either way it's an option. :)

I have a feeling (as also mentioned by Vennto on previous page) that POB is not working when it comes to shock calculations. Ever since GGG's last patch where they made it possible to see your shock% vs bosses (it shows under their healthbars now), it just seems strange that POB insists for AW5 Elem Focus to be better than AW5 Added Lightning, which allows for higher shocking (and seemingly we are easily able to do that from the bossing I've seen since the patch started showing shock%)

So if you have currency, I'd definitely try swap elem focus with AW5 Added Lightning dmg, it may significantly increase your dps even if POB can't show it or shows a de-crease.

A big upgrade would also be to get Lightning ulab enchant on your boots (it'll add like 6-9% dps increase). It's permanently active for traps, it's a big big boost in DPS. If you could fit the missing lightning resist elsewhere than your belt, you could add 12% throw speed craft as it stacks with the zeal mod.

A better abyss jewel for your stygian with T1 lightning to spells and t1-t3 added lightning or cold to spells while holding a shield, combined with the 2% pen and multiplier would be great.

Other than this, you seem to have good items and you understood to get the proper kind of jewels with multiplier stats, so imo you're looking good. :)

Thanks for the feedback there, very helpful and gives me some thigns to work on improving even further.

Had enough funds so was able to get a AW6 Added Light Damage which also provides +1 to Light Trap as a new bost so the Light Trap is now lvl25.

Had neglected the Lab running to get enchants as can never be bothered doing them once getting Ascendancy but will focus on that quick boost.

Cool, for now I think imma go with blue nightmare since there arent decent shiel with spell block at a decent price on trade and I want to offset the mobs damage with defense for now. hope I can get to 36challenges and/or reach LVL 99 or even 100 with this build.just beat act and got a few items already prepurchased lol.
Hi, liking the build so far sitting around 8.4k ES and feeling quite tanky in maps. Some issues ive run into though:

Mana - Ive taken the influence wheel at the top of the tree in addition to sovereignty but i still struggle with mana. I can reserve all of the auras,but i cant put down more than 15 traps without going OoM and the regen doesn't seem to be enough for me to keep chucking them.

Bossing - Really struggling with elder/shaper guardians etc, just seem to be lacking damage. I generally get a gd chunk in at the start when I can stack the area but after that initial burst I just cant seem to take them down.

I have yet to take any clusters or damage jewels as waiting for enough free points (lvl 89), i know they are a lot of damage but am I missing something else?

Would be grateful for any tips or points on what im doing wrong (weapon upgrade soon along with clusters)
