Just pick the "level" by what the Effective Required Level of the gem you have. Level 20 is 70, for example. It's on the table in the same page.

Path of Building also knows the Life.

And yes, of course it goes up by level, about 10% per gem level, roughly.

It depends on your gear. If you have a high level Carrion Golem + Animate Weapon + Flat Phys to Minions, A. Added Cold starts getting weaker, and A. Melee Phys gets better. In my case, it's about 6-7% MORE dps compared. Until you have a high level AW, Added Cold *is* better.

As for DPS, I chose to go dual-wield, which is large DPS boost, Ele Weakness Gloves, and multiple Renewal Notables from Cluster jewels... Lots of small things, but it adds up fast.

Also, never use jewels that don't have decent Life on them, that also adds up to a lot. Currently, at just level 93, I should have 7k Life + 17% MoM, and a lot of that is from jewels. Cluster jewels can also roll more Flat Life.

I also added the stats from my Animate Guardian and Spectres into the POB manually, so that might be throwing your numbers off. I put them on a jewel or chest, I think.

Avatar of Fire you see on the site is one of 2 options:

1 - People use the jewel next to it to transfrom the Keystone to something else.

2 - (like me) People take it to only deal Fire damage with Bladefall. This is needed because my Animate Guardian has an aura (from his helmet = https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Crown_of_the_Tyrant) that gives Cold Damage to all allies, including me. If I didn't take it, that would fuck up my Ele. Equilibrium.

If you can cap their res even without Commander of Darkness, this can help. But they don't really die once you scale their level... mine are over 37k life now, and I took off most Minion Life passives (level 29 AW).

Gear:

Yes, once you have a lot of +gem levels from gear, the ascendancy doesn't matter as much (though the Phys reduction from Bone Barrier does help with staying alive). The most common issue people I saw people having - before being optimally geared - was that minions were dying, and that ascendancy change is easiest possible solution.

Arena Master from Drox-influenced maps
