Due to balance changes, I have stopped updating my previous Reaper build guide. And the new quiver, Ahuana's Bite from Ancestor league, has given me the idea to make another Reaper build, so here is it.

As you might already can tell, Summon Reaper is my favorite skill in POE, it has been really fun making another version of Summon Reaper. While each of these versions are very different than the others, this version might the best one I have made so far.

This build idea started with Ahuana's Bite.


A big part of Reaper damage is coming from bleed, and to maximise bleed damage for minions, Ensnaring Arrow used to make enemy always counted as moving (not anymore), hence a bow is needed. There wasn't any offensive quiver usable for minions before Ahuana's Bite introduced, so I thought I want to make Reaper build with Ahuana's Bite.


As Ensnaring Arrow no longer make enemy counted as moving in 3.25, this build uses The Tempest Rising unique boots instead to do so.



Why tri-ele ailments (ignite, chill and shock)? Why Elementalist?

Both Ahuana's Bite and The Tempest Rising is ele ailments focused, to benefit from the damage taken by chill effect and enemy always counted as moving, we need to be able to apply strong ele ailments on enemies.

As a summoner build, we dont have enough damage to chill enemy reliably that is needed for Ahuana's Bite's damage taken bonus. Elementalist ascendancy and Cold Mastery allow us to apply strong chill on enemy reliably even if our damage is low.




Besides, combining with Shaper of Storms, we can shock enemy reliably as well, hence able to gain huge damage boost by stacking ailment effects to boost both chill and shock effect.



Last but not least, Shaper of Flames allow the build to prolif ignite, significantly improving the clearspeed, solving the biggest problem of all Reaper's build. The ignite/explosion mechanic will be discussed later in detailed in the Build Mechanic section.




Why scale both hit and bleed damage?

As this build invest a lot into damage taken stats (bonus from Ahuana's Bite, Vulnerability curse and Shock) which scales both hit and bleed damage, I thought it would be a waste if only uses bleed. Besides, increase minion damage bonus also scale both hit and bleed from Reaper.

Tri-Ele Ailments Debuff (Applying with Storm Brand/Cold Snap)

This build focuses heavily on debuffing enemies with elemental ailmesnt (ignite/chill/shock). With some investment into ailments effect (skill tree/support gems), the build is able to debuff enemies with all three ele ailment and gaining the bonuess below

30% Chill
- 100% always Chill (Shaper of Winter)
- 30% reduced action speed to enemies (chill effect)
- 30% increased damage taken to enemies (Ahuana's Bite)
- 15% less damage dealt (Shaper of Winter)

50% Shock
- 100% always Shock (Shaper of Storm)
- 50% increased damage taken to enemies (shock effect)

Ignite
- 100% always Ignite (Shaper of Flames)
- Convert 40% enemies' Physical damage to Fire (Shaper of Flames)
- Ignite Proliferation Explosion

Any Ele Ailments
- Enemies always counted as moving (The Tempest Rising)
- Tripling bleed damage


Chain Explosion and Ignite Proliferation

One of the biggest problem Summon Reaper build has is clearspeed, one minion playstyle makes map clearing clunky to play, this is also probably the reason why Summon Reaper is not popular. This build uses Explosion and Ignite Proliferation to solve this problem, here is how it works.

Important Mechanic : Enemies killed by Minions' DoT damage
In POE, there is one unintuitive mechanic, that Enemies killed by Minions' DoT damage will be credited to the player instead, which can then trigger on kill effect like recover %life/explosion on kill.

To make sure as many enemies as possible to be killed by Reaper's bleed (instead of hit damage which will not trigger on kill explosion effect), we uses Deadly Ailments Support while mapping, to greatly reduce Reaper's hit damage.


Explosion
Now that we can trigger on kill effect using the mechanic metioned above, we use Ortiath's End unique flask to trigger explosion when Reaper's bleed kill enemy.


The explosion can then scale by player's damage and AoE stats to make it more powerful and explode in bigger AoE. We uses Spiritual Aid and Flame Golem buff to further increase the explosion damage and AoE, without these two the explosion wont be as impactful.



Ignite Proliferation and Chain Explosion
Explosion alone is not enough, there is more :). As the explosion counted as damage dealt by you (instead of Reaper), Shaper of Flames causes the explosion always igniting nearby enemies, and when they die due to the ignite, there are chances for them to explode again, creating chain explosion. We are using the gloves ignite spread implicit to further spread the ignite.


The chain explosion will cover almost the entire screen, we could apply Malediction/increase damage taken debuff to all the ignited enemies by using Cinderswallow Urn.


Finally, with all the above, you can create something like this :




Reaper Consume

The Consume skills kill one allied damageable minion, then recovers 50% of the Reaper's life and applies a buff to the Reaper for a base duration of 6 seconds. The Reaper has 2 versions of this skill. Each version has its own cooldown. The buff grants the following effects:

40% increased attack speed
40% increased movement speed
30% increased Area of Effect
10% increased character size

In this build, I feed Reaper with Golems, and because Elementalist ascendancy, golem will respawn 4 secs after consumed, so infinite food for reaper :).




Utula's Hunger and Life Recover on Kill

I decided to use Utula's Hunger, to ease the gearing pressure because all the unique we use does not have life modifiers.

NOTE : The downside is we cannot have any life modifiers in all of the gears including maximum life to minions

However, life modifiers on jewels are not counted, so you can still have life/minions life on the abyss jewels.

As mentioned in previous section, all the enemies killed by Reaper Bleed/Chain Explosion will trigger on kill effect, so the Life Recover on Kill on both Utula's Hunger and Cinderswallow Urn will work, our life pool will recover to full everytime explosion happens, a very good defensive layer.

Use Zombie and SRS to level from act 1 until you get Summon Reaper in act 3 (level 28). Reaper is pretty strong in campaign, you can use Reaper together with SRS throughout the campaign. Because this build is scaling both hit and bleed damage, so there is no rush to change into bow.

hey i've seen your build on poe.ninja before you put the guide out there and playing it for a few days already.

if you want to craft the bow from the ground up (with fractured minon damage),
you have to spam faceted fossils until you get +1 level to socketed strength gems, annul everything else and pray that the +1 stays, after that you craft ->
"can have up to 3 crafted modifiers" and "cannot roll attack modifiers", this blocks the suffix portion of the bow, then you slam an exalt to guarantee the +1 to socketed gems.

oh yeah, and thanks for the build!:)

Builds like this make PoE the great game that it is. I think the current league is the best state the game has been in since I started playing in Blight. I really hope Tattoos go core. I have so many builds I wanna try this league and you just added another one to the list :D

:D, this build is using two Ancestor uniques, might be dead if Ancestor does not go core sadly.
