aww yea, pre Download for Steam would be great!
I guess im a slow turtle but haven't noticed anything about that... maybe its ``safe`` to download the Standalone game and later download it later on Steam.

But keep in mind you need to create a seperated game Login in your Account managment to log into the game without Steam for the standalone game
