The operation could not be completed. Uncut Support Gem

Getting the message "The operation could not be completed" when right clicking an uncut support gem.

Skill gem has available support gem space.
I don't already have the support gem.

Disregard, user error.

What was the user error? I am having this exact problem and this post is the only thing that comes up on google.

In my case, the problem was that I did not have enough INT, but the game did not make it easy to know.

Same problem here. I tried to allocate a support gem to a skill, I could press the "Engrave" button, but it didn't do anything and I got the message "Operation cannot be completed". But I could allocate that gem to another skill. Usually, when the character doesn't match some skill requirements, the "Engrave" button cannot be pressed and you receive a message about the skill requirements. It wasn't clear to me why I couldn't allocate the gem to the initial skill.

i have the same issu, but if the support gem in the stash when u right click, and engrave, the gem go the stash, then u see what stat missing for use. (as me the innervate need 30 dex)

For all wondering about, its because you don't meet the attributes requirements, select your primary weapon, deselect the little check box in the bottom left and search for the support skill gem, then you'll see u don't meet the attributes requirements.

For anyone still struggling with this, you can also search in all gems for your desired gem and create it from there:

Right click on your uncut support gem -> go to All gems -> search for desired gem and engrave

This way it lets you engrave the gem without issues, even if you don't have required stats, no idea why it doesn't work via the recommended for spells window.
For some reason game doesn't show correct requirements for it to create and "The operation could not be completed." is not really helpful.
