Support gem disappearing

I am playing Witch. and I notice if I upgrade my weapon either main hand or off hand. With a stronger version of the same skills all support gem I had on the weapon skill or minions are now gone, deleted, they weren't even put into my inventory. I have lost maybe 5 support gem between the chaos bolt, and all type related to any of the minions.

I been only use these weapon and upgrading when I find better one. When I notice the support gem started to disappear.
Main Hand - Wand - Chaos Bolt
Off Hand - Scepter - Skeletal Warrior

Unless this is a intentional design, I would have thought they would be either be placed into inventory, or stay on the skills as they are the same but upgraded.

Also not sure if this matters, I play with controller.

I just had this happen when buying a support gem for the skeletal arsonist. No skill gem when I activate it, and no additional gem in the skill. I had another skill in the first slot. After this, I was about to unlock another one for another skill, so I moved the one that was there to the second slot, and the gem showed up. It appears that if the gem slots are taken up (or taken up by non-native support gems for that skill), that they disappear.

Also seems to happen when selling a weapon to a vendor, and that weapon spell has support gems

I know for sure the gems are not hidden or invisible in my case. As like a debuff I would have been applying to mobs from the support gem, no longer is being applies. An I get the option to create the same support gem again as if i never have made them to begin with

The same happened to me, super annoying early game...
I had a support gem for chaos bolt on a wand, sold the wand when I replaced it with a better one, and the support gem was gone :(

Surely the gems should just be dropped back into inventory when items are sold?

This happened to me and is repeatable.

1. Put support gem in weapon (I tried it with a gelid staff).
2. Equip different weapon and the current one with the support gem goes into inventory but the support gem is not separated.
3. If you re-equip the weapon with the "hidden" support gem, you can see it is still attached.

However, if you just unequip the gelid staff with the support gem in it, it goes into inventory with the support gem on the side. This allows me to put the support gem in the new staff when I equip that.

There should be a warning vendor-side that you are selling an item with an attached gem so you have to willingly make that decision (and not lose two like I've done)

This just happened to me, I bought a better version of my weapon and when I sold the weapon I had, I realised after equipping the new weapon that I do not have my 2 support gems that was on the previous weapon that I sold

I know this is early access but this is a serious annoying issue. Hope this will be fixed fast ..

All I did was upgrade Rolling Slam from 13 to 14 and suddenly all the supports got deleted? cant find them anywhere

Similar issue here. Changed Bleeding Concoction to Poison Concoction and the gems are gone. Not going to spend another 3k+3k gold to check and see if they are still somehow attached to the skill that is no longer available to me.

**Devs, when we respec can you make any support gems attached to our skills that are no longer being used pop into our inventories? Thanks!
