Aiming with Spells (Contagion / Essence Drain)

I have exactly the same issue, makes it dangerous sometimes when your setup takes several more steps to establish and mobs are running like triathlon athletes towards you
Yup, since day one I've noticed it, both abilities seem like they both have a tiny hitbox and are extremely inaccurate to where you are pointing.

Yes fix this ASAP.

Right now ED build is utterly painful to play
Please at least make an option to turn off auto aim.
Aiming with crossbow at frozen enemies is almost impossible.
Also experiencing this issue. It's very frustrating.
Try adding "Unleash" support on contagion and watch the magic happen ;)

In addition to the same issue, I often have the problem where contagion fires behind me where everything is already dead.

Step one: Clear pack(s) of mobs.
Step two: Move forward to the next pack.
Step three: Drop a totem (goes where it's supposed to).
Step four: Shoot essence drain (goes where it's supposed to).
Step five: Drop contagion (attacks empty ground ~10 meters behind me).

That happens maybe 10-20% of my fast clears.

EDIT: in Augury just cleared a pack in a hallway, ran around the corner into the new hallway, cast contagion, and it attacked the hallway behind me where I didn't even have line of sight to attack.

This feels like the auto-aim feature for contagion is checking against a state that is ~1 second in the past, not the current state of the game.

Contagion using mouse is very strange.... I don't know to explain how it seems to miss so much.
Can't just target the nearest mob from our mouse?

Idk on controller how it is... But using mouse I find it very strange. Ed is the same stranginess
on controller it's pretty targetable as long as you use the right stick, without it it could ping off anywhere

It could well be targeting from the start of the cast not the end of it, yes

I might not notice a problem so much because I have high cast speed and arcane tempo

As somebody who plays both, aiming with a mouse or controller feels the same. In the absence of any available (or recently available) targets, contagion seems to consistently fire in the direction you are facing at the time it begins its animation (after casing delay). This is the same behavior I observe with essence drain, curses, etc.

The big issue I have experienced (although somewhat poor at explaining) is that while essence drain and other spells seem to mostly follow those same rules even when there are enemies on the screen, contagion does not.

Here's a quick example. Assume there are two packs, one to your left, one to your right.

1) Face right. Aim right.
2) Essence drain. (Shoots right).
3) Contagion. (Shoots right, although it might leap your target).
4) Pack melts.

5) Face left. Aim left.
6) Essence drain. (Shoots left).
7) Contagion.

Usually, contagion will now shoot left. Sometimes it will hit the same target, sometimes it will leap that target into the pack.

Sometimes (maybe 10%?) contagion will instead shoot right, hitting the floor where everything else is already dead.

If your essence drain does enough damage that it feels just as (or more) efficient to use contagion first in your attack rotation, this behavior is much harder to notice. But when I was a low damage little witch, shooting ED first and then dropping contagion next to save ~1 second of casting time, it was very observable.

Sorry for rambling, just hoping somebody from GGG will see this and perhaps consider if it needs a fix.
