TRADE is such a detriment to POE 2 being fun

Because of frequent checkpoint system and boss checkpoint system in campaign I think you can have a good time without trade. Better time even, as leaving the game to engage in trade really breaks immersion. Feels like 'cheating'.

For later trials/higher maps tiers, without trade it is far too punishing, you need better items because at that point it is simply a POB game of pumping a combination of DPS+EHP to keep up with monster HP/dmg numbers.

If a game requires trade, it's broken. It's inherently unfun and will alienate a huge swath of players who want to play the game and not sit in a trade window.

There is potential for far bigger profits from a larger audience, than relying on nickel and diming the small group of die hards who obsess over trade.

is this guy literally advocating to prioritize profits in game development? who are these people?

I'm advocating for the median gamer who just wants to kill monsters and not have their gaming experience ruined by secondary systems.
Just play your game. Who cares if other people trade. Who cares. There's no ladder it's not a competition.

Right now there's a rank 1 player miles ahead of us, but it has ZERO impact on us. [Removed by Support]

Just keep to your own business play the game. If someone else trading bother you because you know it gives their character an advantage, but also that it has no impact on you reflect on life. Cuz you have a SERIOUS mental problem.

I would prefer to see some currency or rare item find buffs for SSF to balance out relying on trade (similar to what Last Epoch did).

Also I really like having that added layer of tasks/things you can hunt down. Kill boss X or 50 of mob Y. Its nice having those little extra gameplay loops when you have lot play time.

If you read my post and didn't just knee jerk assume the worst you would see my argument isn't just about other players growing more powerful not playing hte game, it's that any game that has Trade inherently has design altered and resources poured into these systems that make the game less fun in a multitude of unseen ways.

Read the thread, then feel free to talk shit.

They'll never do this. Trade is the cornerstone of "player interaction" and SSF is considered a self imposed challenge. The game will never be balanced to give SSF an easier time.

I don't have links but you can find multiple interviews about this.

The currency exchange was a hugely unexpected compromise because one of the devs (Neon? Nick?) experienced the hell of trying to trade for currency, but Chris has said asynchronous item trading/AH will never happen.

That's a shame. I HATED the auction house in diablo 3 because it was done for all the wrong reasons. But considering that the developers have decided that trade and buying items from vendors is a perfectly ok mechanic for whatever god awful reason, I would much rather be able to trade for items without having to deal with a boring chat room waiting for a decent item to show up from people wanting to scam me.

Ideally I would prefer to get the best items from playing the darned game. That's why I play these games in the first place.

I agree, it can be so time consuming whispering into the void. I was at least hoping for the trade site to be built into the client to ease alt-tabbing constantly, plus it at least makes it accessible to people that would never think trading is done on the games website.

To top it off, it's not even that I fear being ripped off, I can kinda deal with that. I hate spamming trade windows and inconveniencing other people.

It's such a drag that damned trade chat. "I WANT THIS!" "WHO WANTS THIS!?" "I NEED THIS!". It's like an entire chatroom full of children asking for help and i HATE it.

I want to be self sufficient, I want to feel the thrill of my best item dropping from a strong enemy I killed. And I don't want the illusion broken by knowing that trade is the key path to power, and that the entire game is fueled by a neckbeard economy that creeps its way into every aspect of the game.

POE 2 has the opportunity to not be a terrible currency generator and just be a fantastic ARPG.

I hope they find a way to take that path, or to reward players who want to skip trade somehow. Because people new to POE have NO IDEA how terrible trade is, and how much it will negatively impact the future of their play.

You literally never have to trade if you dont want to...
But then again you have been spending the past week on here just trying to stir shit up, so I dont really think you care as much as you are presenting.
In 10 years of playing PoE, I've never been ripped off.

And what are you talking about trade chat? Nobody does that. Trade on the tradewebsite?

Trading is an integral part of PoE, and there's always SSF if you don't like it.
