Citadel Death

Doing a citadel map t16, completely smashing it with no threats neither in map nor at the boss, don't have any crit rolled on the map or anything that can spike.
Boss is literally frozen and perma-stunned anyway, doesn't have any gates or tornadoes spawned or any mechanics for me to consider. I'm full HP always, kill the boss and start picking up loot -> die to something instantly. From 5k hp to zero, not even a chance to react to what I don't even know, no lightning strike or spear, nothing, I'm assuming an invisible middle finger hardcoded into the game. GG

That is one of the most frustrating mechanic and GGG needs to change it.

I learn it the hard way. after killing every rare or unique crap, I always dodge roll away and wait for 5 to 10 seconds from a safe distance just in case.

Yeah, I mean, I'm not a stranger to bs deaths and one shots in both games. It's just that the map was so casual in general, like I could stand in the middle of a breach on the dreadnaught and it was fine.

Now this trash boss threw a couple of lightnings at me in 1st phase and then in second, nothing took me down even below 90% life I'd say, passive regen just covered it. Whatever stupid projectile or ground effect was still left after his death should not deal 10x more damage than the boss did during his entire lifetime.
dont be a loot goblin and you wont die to on death effects, if that is even what this was.
Step 1 is to self reflect.
Citadel deaths are esp. hurtful because they're so rare [for me at least].

Note: I think I'm searching wrong but that's a me-problem as I suspect I know a way to improve what I see.

Well yo it's a boss, it dies then after a death animation and 3 seconds loot starts dropping 1 by 1, it's not like a rare where it instantly drops everything. I think it's reasonable to not expect a one shot at that point.
Like obviously I wouldn't be picking up shit if it was in a middle of an active breach or ritual or something.

Yep, they are pretty rare. This was my 4th in total in like 200 hours of play
This just happened to me in my first citadel nuked Doryani then after all the loot was on the ground some random lightning bolt from out of nowhere just one shot me. Now I have the quest for doing a stone citadel done but nothing to show for it other than a failed map tile that I can't redo and is now blocking three other map tiles....
Just insta dead in my first after killing the boss and i just dead without any animation.
33 days straight of searching.
