I just can't really find myself liking PoE2, for several reasons

The big take-away I get from this is the leagues bit. There were so many options and so many ways to adapt them and yet I still feel like I have to rush for at least part of every single map. Which feeds into my fear how permanent the zoom-fest endgame will be. These league mechanics make it not as simple as simply slowing the game down. These leagues make slowing the game down in endgame a huge undertaking so it doesn't just render a bunch of mechanics inaccessible since currently you have to zoom to be able to gain value from them. Namely Breach and Delirium come to mind.

I would really like it if there would be fewer monsters with larger hp pools that do interesting things I need to respond to in distinct ways in the endgame maps. I don't like the speed farming an undistinguished large monster swarm gameplay.

I'm in this same boat. Less more meaningful monsters. Even if it's just the magic and rare packs. Make the normal monster one click clear nonsense, than give me an engaging fight with less monsters when I hit a magic/rare pack. I feel like this can be accomplished without even making each map that much longer. Just make half as many twice as long fights with some actual tactics to them. Campaign for the most part does this where I feel like I have to learn how to fight the shield skels in act one graveyard for example. But when you put 50 of those skels on my screen for endgame obviously my only option is gonna be to one shot clear them all with something. Thus the game inherently needs to be balanced around requiring and allowing the player to one shot clear the screen.
The first season was pretty fun because I was learning everything and it was fresh. I jumped in the game last week and it's a chore to play. Bosses feel like damage sponges and my power level feels terrible. I was over it at the end of the act 2 boss.

I agree with all these changes. Make your game fun to play and for the love of god give me some loot!

K, thx, by =D
Personaly iam the other way around, i am a campaign player and cant care less abouth the end game and maps. I have been playing poe1 since closed beta and i can count the amount of red maps i did on the fingers of one hand.

For me the campaign from poe1 had a certain flow, the area's are not too short and not too long. The exits are always in the same direction, so if u want to rush u can and if u need some loot or exp u can take a longer route to the exit.

At level 38 i had access to all skills and supports so from that moment i could build how i wanted something. My builds are finished when i could kill act 10 Kitava. After that i usely would try a couple of maps, got bored or had a new build idea and would start over again. Usualy i have 5 to 7 builds during a league. Are they perfect or end game vailable, hell no, but i had fun.

The good thing was that if a build idea did not work because a specific area or boss killed me fast that i at least could rush through or corpse run a boss to get passed it.

Now in poe2 for me the area's are long from the beginning, i mis that "flow". Everything switches around and i spend a lot of time running around looking for the right direction.

The last skills are around level 52, for me that is the end of the campaign so probaly will never see those skills in any of my build ideas. The same goes for lvl3 supports. They drop at such a high level that my first builds wil not have access to them. If any drop they will go to a new build, thank god they do not have a level requirement.

But the bigest problem i have is the whole souls like reviving mobs and bosses. I like that in the souls games but not here. i have more than one build that gets blocked by a boss. Mainly because i cant damage them, at least not fast enough that the fight feels good or that i build around parry but the boss has nothing to parry.
I hope they wil ever add a new game mode, lets call it merciful, where the mobs dont respawn and the boss does not reset its health on dead. Make it a SSF mode for all i care, the rest can stay the same.

I'd mentioned somewhere else that I think checkpoints and the new direction GGG is taking with secrets could solve a lot of the dead end issues. If every time you choose the "wrong" path you were given a checkpoint and something cool at the end you could keep larger branching zones and not force the player to backtrack through empty long pathways. Just slap a checkpoint at the branch in the road and at the end of each dead end and slap some loot/a "secret" at each branch.

As for reviving bosses and such I enjoy it. It means I actually have to learn a fight and not just body my way through it. And I feel like that allows PoE 2 to remain a tactical game and not just a numbers game like PoE 1. Like obviously you can play the numbers and roll everything in 2, but you can also play something sub-par and skill your way through things instead. Making it option in SSF though seems fine. Now that I think about it that would also potentially fix the XP penalty complaints. Just add some option gameplay settings to ssf so the wider community isn't affected but everyone can tailor the game away from deal breakers.
I am so relieved to have a PoE league coming again. 2 just FEELS so bad to play. I am so sad that I genuinely have to force myself to hang in there with 2... Sliding/warping/hitching around the screen constantly getting pushed/dragged or whatever the hell that is supposed to be.. swarmed by super fast mobs, interrupted over and over, can't move, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge... it's just sloppy and annoying. I just can't fathom how this is the strat. The slowness, the clunkiness, the frustration model of gaming is not something most players want, especially not if you want them to return again and again for a seasons based monetization model. Thanks for the patches and the effort, but while the loot may be more and the fog might be less, the FEEL is still bad. We'll try again, after I enjoy an authentically great experience in the OG, genre redefining beast that is Path of Exile.
Good post OP, agree with everything

I feel like there are so many things that they missed the mark on and they are just adjusting small things here and there. These forums are filled with discontent and it's all about similar things, yet they don't make any meaningful progress towards fixing the glaring issues.

Yeah summoner it's in a very bad state after 0.2 also everyone in my friends list on Xbox stopped playing about 15 people and in the clan another 5 also stopped and in the in game friend list everyone stopped playing too. I use to play about 5 hours a day before 0.2 now maybe 2 hours a week

Im in the zero hours per week club now. Can't see that changing without the games entire direction changing. And i cant see that happening, without GGG devs being changed. Maybe tencent should just bag GGG and completely redo the studio. I dunno, but this is NOT the GGG i started out with many years ago.
GGG - Why you no?

are u aware that the necromancer was the worst part of Diablo II and back before auto-partying was a thing people wouldn't even invite you to their party if you were playing as one. on top of all that, they gave the necro bone wall which prevented other players from moving, but that is an aside

minion builds have been awful forever. they are annoying, clutter the screen with garbage and cause lag. playing as one is like watching a boring movie
