It will be pointless without the Crown. Without the Crown you cant retaliate against ranged hits... that's not good.

For those new Thorn support gems, it's just a matter of RNG right?
Any way to kinda optimize finding them somehow... on 1st play through..?

You find the uncut gems like any other and cut them to the required ones. However, be mindful that they are tier 3 gems... so unless you do 2 quick trades (Alchemy, Regal or Exalted) you'll have to wait till act 6 (or Act Cruel depending on how you wanna say it).

If doing SSF then I suggest the latest levelling craze... Rake > Stomping Ground > Martial prowess. And just respect the tree at the end.

Did you take any Thorn node on Passive Tree..? Your mobalytics page has nothing for Tree

I want to try Kitava, not Warbringer.. thoughts?

Don't know much about the Kitava tree yet but there's nothing that jumps out at me and says it works well with thorns. Warbringer gives us one of the core parts of the build... Global Armour Break. Meaning thorns will break armour. This automatically generates us scavenged plating... giving us even more thorns. Like a fk tonn of thorns... 470-710 at lvl 17... so the end of act 6

As I said, if going SSF, I suggest going all in on a Rake lvling build. This guide is doing the rounds and it even uses Kitava. But as I said... not sure if Kitava is good. At best you need to figure out how to reliable Break Armour for Scavenged Plate Stacks. You could make one of your supports Splinter... That's a tier 2 support. And you'll have far less coverage.

Just FYI: not sure if you know Mathil, but he should be coming out w/ a new vid soon on his latest Thorns build ;) (I feel his Gear while yes has uniques too, seems to digress from your aforementioned crown..not sure though)

I'll definitely "corroborate/contrast" yours and his (and potentially some others)...just for a start...

I know he was doing something with thorns, but have no idea what he's doing with it specifically though. I'm as sure as I can be though that he's using the crown... it literally makes no sense not to use it.

Ah yes, for some reason... RNG actual gem (it's RNG on the supp gem [at least on a new re-roll/"season/league"]) is from PoE1 isn't it...lol...SMH (true on the tier 3...though I think Mathil's may have tier 2, again not sure)

Neat interactions for your build for Warbringer/thorns/scavenge (did you min/max it all in PoB..? ;P)

I wish! POB doesn't show thorns at all... yet. It was such a useless state in POE1 they never bothered to add it lol. I know they are working on it though. this is just me and a few others winging it.

Thanks on the advice for SSF leveling in new re-roll/season/league.

(Not sure yet, but most likely I'll just "wing-it" on 1st char and try stuff out, then perhaps try to learn PoB and plan it out (Maybe...not sure), and try that. Then perhaps try the other builds from others -- [I also have issues w/ Ascending..so we'll see how that goes lol] )
