0.2.0 Stormweaver Feedback

I generally agree with most of the points raised here.

Sorc leveling is abysmal. I was leveling arc + orb at the start of 0.2 and some of my campaign bosses were literally 5+ minutes.

For starters, there just aren't enough spells to play with and the ones you have access to don't really combo well together. Stormweaver in general feels like you're supposed to stack a bunch of damage modifiers to do damage with one or two skills. I honestly prefer this but it needs tuning. Also Conduit needs a buff, either that or it's bugged.

One of the other massive issues is the top side tree. Your options are extremely limited. This is partly because the tree seems to still be empty in some spots compared to bottom side and, more importantly, there's like 30-40% of minion clusters that only one build will ever use. Why is there only one three point cluster that buffs area of effect but 4 times more that are just pointless minion passives. Genuinely. The existence of minions is ruining sorc passive choices and all the different options that could be there for actual spells instead.

Another thing to note is that both sorc ascendancies feel a bit underwhelming. Stormweaver especially after the nerfs. The fact that the only defensive notable is es recoup is bad too.

Early to mid mapping is also very punishing for stormweaver. It definitely should be the go to ascendancy for lightning/archmage builds but it feels like it was tuned exclusively around endgame setups.

Endgame however genuinely feels fine. I've been working on my archmage arc sorc after I finished on my warrior and now, at lvl 95, it feels decent. Definitely not an S tier build but good enough for almost all content. I'm doing T4 bosses (Olroth and KotM primarily) in 2-3 minutes and feel tanky enough to make a few mistakes. The tankiness is definitely because of how strong es is but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Juiced maps also feel good enough. Definitely not LS level but also definitely very playable. I only die if I'm paying zero attention to what's going on and I have plenty of damage for everything in the map.

I never really paid attention to this but it's so true. I'm quoting this in the main post as an edit. Good point.

Man, I wish I'd found this thread before starting my Sorceress in 0.2 :(


This is definitely a rough patch to start sorc on. I think only like 2% or less of players are on sorc this patch if i remember the data on PoEninja right. It's pretty abysmal. It's still playable late game.... but getting there is rough.

I'll be skipping 0.2h as none of this has been addressed or even talked about by the development team. Please fix the sorry state sorc is in.
