This is spot on - THIS is a GOOD kind of oppressive action, because it allows the player to counter-attack effectively to overcome the threat. If the enemies swarming your ass take more than a hit or two, generally, it gives them time to start doing their thing, stun-locking, and generally making it impossible to combo. But if they can be dispatched quickly, they are still dangerous, but only if not reacted to. Very tight danger/counter loop. I think this philosophy could be applied in other areas throughout the game to make this combat feel better, too, but this is a great start. |
