" I have done 2 posts on this topic and have come to the conclusion that people who play broken builds and have RNG luck with items/currency CANNOT relate to people who play bad builds and have bad RNG luck with items/currency. It is like they are playing two different games. My first thread was titled "Exp Lost On Death doesn't work in 2025". https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3739446 My second thread title was "Game can feel unplayable, GGG make it EASY to quit the game". https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3759029 Until they balance every class so that EVERY PLAYER has the same experience with on Death Exp lost then people who pick the seasons broken builds will never agree with people who picked the seasons bad builds and have bad RBNG luck with items/currency. If you are dying in endgame, it means you are lacking the defense (or offense) you need to challenge that content effectively.
You must take steps to fill out your defensive layers(plural). In my case, I shifted from full EV, to EV+block, and then to EV/ES+block, and then it was perfectly fine in juiced T15 and vs bosses. " ^^^ This! It's a game defined by seasons (3 months-ish right?). Who in their right mind would hit 100 more than once in that time frame. It's an astronomical amount of experience to hit even 95, and 100 is probably 3 times that. Never seen anyone on this forum who has actually hit 100 think that the exp penalty has a place in the game. Penalizing players is not challenging. Two completely different concepts. If someone keeps dying in maps their progress is tremendously slowed and they lose their waystones. Nobody is going to mash their head forward with no defense if they remove the exp penalty. Absolutely nonsense argument. |

The 10% is clearly too high. And on top of that, their needs to be diminishing returns on the loss as well. Die two times in a map testing out a new build? Congratulations on -20% XP and several hours of your life. It's completely anti-fun. Combined with the lack of portals if you want to use a waystone with modifiers that actually reward you for your time. Like someone on reddit said, this game is entirely about managing all the awful and punishing things the game constantly throws at you to make it feel okay.

Its so stupid, when you enter your first maps with char level around 64 and dont have pinpoint your gear.
As a casual, im leveling my 2nd char. First was sorceress (level 80 now) and it was PAIN in nuts. I decided, F this turded XP loss system. So, from 64 to 73 Im doing rn Black Chambers only. Rocksteady 11 milion XP per hour, but you know what ? IM HAVING F FUN GGG. After I reach 73, ill go first maps. IMHO, it should be exponential and starting from level 85, maybe 90, so you can at least finish your build. Starting from 64 is plain stupid. If it was not for the constant freezes and DC's with roll backs it would be slightly better but I have never liked the death penalty thing personally.
I died today because the game froze me then I got the 2 cogs loading in the middle of the screen and could not see anything and the mobs killed me. I was a bit annoyed by this because there was nothing I could do to stop loosing my xp. At the very least please fix these horrendous freezes and DC's that roll you back because they keep wasting my waystones. | |
lol imagine when you guys discover that omen of xp bugs and doesnt trigger
imagine when you guys see decay purple particles being invisible and killing you imagine when you guys discover the meta is ES + evasion, or now you going to be stunlocked in 0.2 imagine thinking playing in the same style/meta is good, xp death forces all of this, ggg has a balance problem and xp death helps with this. |
