Trials are just miserable

You are not forced. The Djin coins that drop in late Act3 onwards allow for second set of points to be done at sekhma. At endof campaign you get ultimatum coins and sekhma coins for 3rd set.
I find it ironic that the most fun character development is gated behind the least fun gameplay.

I gave up 0.1 due to that, as without ascendancies I don't enjoy theorycrafting my characters. I'm still pushing on in 0.2, but after my failed attempts in trials yesterday, my enjoyment is dropping rapidly. I can overcome my issues with big maps, bosses that challenge me too much, little loot and many other things I currently don't enjoy. But dying over in trials again, losing all progress and being denied of my ascendancy points is my number 1 frustration right now.

To be constructive, for Sekhemas specifically it would help me:
- When you die, once per trial level (= rooms to the boss) you may restart the current room. I sometimes die to e.g. loading particles, second time that would be solved.
- You only do one trial level, difficulty / boss matches to the needed ascendancy points. That way at least you don't invest so much time in a loss, which is one source of my frustration.
- Skipping trials by farming a rare resources. I am willing to pay via some grind. I know this quasi-exists, as I can pay other players to do my trial, but then I'd feel even worse afterwards.

If I could have another way for ascendancy, I'd skip trials completely.
As a scumsole player ( before the inevitable insults ) my main problem is moving through the fire turret maze traps, no matter how much honour i have it just insta kills me

( Even with good relics trap reduction , honour resis i get toasted )

I have no issue with any other rooms it's just those traps with ever expanding balls of fire destroy me while using a controller which sadly has no precise movement when it comes to pixel perfect stealth !!.

Yes yes i know there are players with godlike skills on controllers but as an old fart with arse reflexes this is the room that taps me out.
+1 pls full-rework of trials

dev's if you like that system, then keep it in the game. please just don't make it mandatory to complete. put it somewhere where ppl that enjoy it can do it, and those that wouldn't even touch a game that revolves around such rng-stuff don't have to.

imho, it's by far the worst part of the game

-add "Advanced Targeting System" to the options so we can disable accessibility-stuff
-fix skills w/o movement to NOT MOVE YOU when using Attack Without Moving i.e. Ice Strike
-rework: enemies instant-spells = math-game || very unfitting for meaningful combat cuz can't avoid with skill

I just tried for my 3rd ascendancy, and after an hour failed it in the Terracota boss room (having never fought them before)

Well, thats me on these trials, i'll either go without or buy the run through

Just a real waste of your gaming time to be humiliatingly wiped out for 1 incy mistake in over an hours cncentration.

I never liked the Labrynth either as i was just too clumsy through the traps there to make it work without frustration.

Been here since Open Beta.

I thought how it worked was quest items, one for sanctum, one for ultimatum? With unlimited attempts for each because they were the two intro quests. Then I thought the others were based solely on randomly dropped items? Honestly can't remember, because this time I just did both on the first try, one of each and haven't done more yet. Stash is filled with a bunch of items that say "won't grant more ascendancy points". It's not straightforward like the first game, where you had unlimited attempts until the final one where you needed an offering.

Edit: Looked through my stash and the only items I have that would grant points are for sanctum, so it absolutely is not a choice. It's gated by RNG entirely unless you're buying them off trade or I'm missing something entirely.

I wish they would remove the Ascendancies from the trials and make them a fun thing for those that like them by adding loot and incentives.

They could offer a Mirror and i wouldn't do them personally. I literally hate ever single second of every minute in the trials.

I want to build my character though, locking that progression behind this absolute ass of an activity is a real gamebreaker.

yea same here. i like difficult stuff, and getting better at it. getting screwed over by rng is just a horrible feeling, and life is already full of such stuff. i don't want that in my games. also winning because you just so happend to have a lucky roll doesn't feel rewarding either in the slightest to me. and why would it, there is nothing i could have done to influence the rng, so no rewarding feeling as a result out of that.

if GGG wants to keep it in the game, they could simply make it a more rewarding way for loot-gathering, as an example. i mean it kinda already is with the amount of chests in Sekhemas. pls just don't have it mandatory for character progression :-)

Just do the trails 15 levels over and they are easy AF. ;-)
